You should edit your second post and information related to Eset and uTorrent. It seems that this option exits only in NOD32 Antivirus but not in Eset Smart Security. Also, I think it is not blue cross, it is red.

Cheers :rolleyes:

I got an question: Just saw that a new version of EAV and ESS has come out. Now i'm using nodlogin, so it's just a legal key. Do I have to upgrade my nod myself, or is there an option in NOD that it will automatically update to the newer version? At least something that I see that there is a new, updated, version of nod available...

Thanks :rolleyes:

as far as I know, you have to update your nod to the next version manually by downloading the installer from their site and making the upgrade, since all that the auto-update does is update the signature database, and the modules, which have to relation with the next version.

Yeah tought that too, it sucks... Why don't they include an auto upgrader, that is really handy :rolleyes:

@Escobarretje:

Indeed.

They're making the pirates do it the hard way :)

Yeah, including their customers :ph34r: When my parents buy a key for NOD, I bet that they would never update the nod version... that's just stupid of NOD. Even not a warning that a new version is out, wth!

The procedure to get the latest updates(I'd recommend waiting for the ESET servers to recover if you're not having any problems):

- Open ESET, Advanced setup and disable Self-defense.

- Reboot.

- Go to 'C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET NOD32 Antivirus or Smart Security' and delete all files called 'em0x_32.dat' (x is a number from 01 to maybe 13). To delete these files Self-defense has to be disabled, if you still can't delete them please try using a free program called 'Unlocker'.

- Open ESET, Advanced options, Antivirus and antispyware, Update press 'Clear update cache' and enter one of these updates servers:

http://um12.eset.com/eset_eval/http://um13.eset.com/eset_eval/http://u42.eset.com/eset_eval/http://u49.eset.com/eset_eval/http://u53.eset.com/eset_eval/http://u54.eset.com/eset_eval/
- Pick it as update server in the drop down box.

- Try updating 5 times.

- If you didn't receive the update yet repeat the three previous steps, but pick another server.

- You should now have received the latest ESET updates.

- Enable Self-defense and reboot again.

If you have any additions to this explanation please post them here :)

I have NodEnabler 3.1.

When I run NodEnabler, the tray balloons does not show. It doesn't show any messages, just the tray icon.

I have reinstalled it several times, making sure not to select the silent option.

Is this a known bug, or is it just me? If it is just me, is there any way to fix it?

ok been brought a laptop which i did some time back . has nod32 v3.0.672 and has nodlogin 9.7 .

owner brings me the laptop today with the last successful update dated 02 feb 2009 . have installed nodlogin 9.9c and followed the guide accodingly . licences are inserted successfully but when i click on update it connects but stays there . after a while i get a popup saying error retrieving updates . i have cleared the update cache , licences are inserted accordingly , nodlogin says licences are working 100% but still nothing .

is this a case of nod servers overloaded and if so is there any way of checking the condition of nod servers ?

thanks

edit . i didnt know there was a problem/support/question thread here so if any mod feels the need to merge this with the other please do

  • 2 weeks later...

Okay, maybe you guys can help, since I'm reaching the point of wanting to use a totally different antivirus. This has happened in previous version of nod32 as well, so it's not just V4. here's what i know:

I have a virus scan of my entire computer run during the weekdays while I'm at work. Sometimes (and today was one of those days), I come back after work to find my computer essentially frozen. Instead of seeing the windows welcome screen and asking for my password, all i see is my desktop wallpaper (which I believe occurs if there is some very bad delay and your computer is trying to load up the welcome screen, but maybe I'm wrong). Again, I just see the wallpaper, not my actual desktop with icons and taskbar and so on. I can see my mouse cursor and can move it around, but nothing else works, e.g. the keyboard cannot be used to bring up task manager, the mouse cannot right click, etc. If I try pressing the power button, which is set to send my computer into standby, my computer also refuses to do that. The only solution is to turn it completely off and restart.

Upon restarting, I can see in the nod32 logs that a scan supposedly started, but that it never finished. It says 0 files scanned and "scanning in progress." Now I don't know if this actually means it screwed up immediately or if it messed up along the way and the log just displays 0 because it does not save correctly. Windows' event log does not display anything, so no help in there.

This only happens sometimes, which is worse. This is the first time it has happened in a month or two. Usually once it happens, it continues to happen for a while. Does anyone have any ideas? For now, I've stopped the scheduled scans. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@bob1234:

Maybe it's a sign of Windows going bad / corrupt Posted Image

In any case, try reinstalling NOD32 first.

You can do that by reading Post #164

Go to Tools->Scheduler and disable "Automatic startup file check"

see if that helps. It could also be Advanced Heuristics in the real time scanner, that causes some lockups at times. I'm not sure at which point you have the welcome screen so these suggestions may not apply but I hope you get through.

Thanks guys.

@ Bizarre

yeah, after i try/read some suggestions I will have to do a fresh install if I see the problem again.

@LeetPirate

It happens during a scheduled scan, not during startup, so i don't think the startup scan is an issue (that scan runs fine). Have others had problems with the Advanced Heuristics? If it does cause an issue during scans, should I just disable advanced heuristics in the scan itself, or should i also disable it in the real-time protection (both)? I did not know that it could cause lockups for people.

Anyone else is welcome to add more ideas, since the more I can try the more I can hopefully overcome this. Thanks again.
