Guidelines

Overview:

nsane.forums is an interactive community. As with all such communities' members are expected to behave in a certain manner. This document will explain our expectations of our members. Please read this document thoroughly and ensure that you keep up with it, as it will be updated regularly.

All interactions between community members (be it via posts, PM's) should be free from flaming, baiting, spam, profanities and illegal / obscene material, and as a result should be positive, polite and constructive. Should you come across something that isn't please use the "Report" button next to a post or contact a staff member via a PM (Reporting Tutorial).

"Mini-moderating" to any extent will not be tolerated.

We offer members the ability to post status updates. This is a value-added feature that must not to be used as an alternative to forum posts or private messages (i.e., to ask questions).

The staff are here to ensure the site can be enjoyed by everyone. All staff here are volunteers, please keep this in mind before placing unnecessary pressures upon them. They expect to be treated with the same respect as every other member of the community.

Members are only permitted to have a single user account. Duplicate user accounts may be removed, or other sanctions imposed, without notice. Occasionally users that haven't been active in over a year and haven't made a single post may be removed. If your account is removed, please feel free to create a new one. We do not remove member accounts upon request.

The rest of this document will divulge into more details about the above.

Profile Photos & Signatures:

Profile Photos should aim to be 120px or less. The maximum allowed file size is 100kB. Animations are permitted (providing they are not excessive).

Signatures must be equal to or lower than 750px wide and 250px high in total. Signatures are limited to 10000 characters and 200kB total size. Animations and URLs are permitted.

Policing:

The staff are here to ensure that the forums stay as neat and as tidy as possible. Posts may be edited, moved, split, locked, hidden or even deleted if deemed necessary. They will not tolerate abuse of any kind whatsoever.

Members may be warned for any offences (as named in this document). They may also be placed under moderator post preview (in order to assess the post quality), suspended from the forums or banned permanently. You will be contacted regarding any of the aforementioned actions.

Certain offences are more serious than others and may result in a ban without warning. Any attempt to circumvent a temporary ban will lead to that ban being made permanent.

We try to look after our members, and as such, expect the same from our members. If there is a problem with any member on this forum, please contact the staff member through the support forum so that they can deal with it appropriately. Please don't try to deal with these issues by yourself as it will most likely cause bigger problems. Furthermore, the support forum can be used to submit any kind of requests such as changing username, email address, password, etc.

The decision of an administrator is final and not up for discussion.

Posting & Messaging:

Individual forums may include additional guidelines or templates and should be followed wherever possible. These are in addition to (and not instead of) the forum rules.

This forum revolves around topics of a technical nature, which happen to be discussed by people from many nationalities, ethnicities and political backgrounds. In order to focus on what unites us all, rather than what divides us, cultural, national and/or political issues are not to be discussed. Members engaging in such discussions will receive a warning.

Members are reminded to respect copyrights. As such, any links or posts containing illegal content are not permitted. This includes and is not limited to cracks, keygens, serials and "licensed" software materials. Requests for illegal materials are not permitted. Any content copied from elsewhere should include a source link.

Like on most online forums the use of the 'Like / Thanks' button is preferred over simply posting 'Thanks' or something similar. Making an excessive number of posts which add little to nothing to a topic might result in a post count reduction.

Members are requested not to post duplicate topics or topics on the same or very similar subjects to others. Please use the search function before posting as it is likely someone else has had a topic similar to yours. This includes but is not limited to software downloads and mirrors. We do not allow posts mirroring the files located on nsane.down (unless the links are currently not available). Whenever possible, members should provide download links from a software developers homepage (i.e., not upload the file to your own file host), include a link to the software developer's homepage and a changelog.

Members should also remember that this forum is aimed at a general audience. Posting pornographic or generally offensive text, images, links etc will not be tolerated. Posts should be respectful to other members of our community.

Posts which include spamming, advertising, solicitation, profanity or otherwise are not permitted. This includes and is not limited to links via cash sites (including rewards for downloads), affiliate marketing, links requiring a premium/ paid account to access, and any service to shorten URLs, such as https://bit.ly. As these are generally considered more serious than other infractions, members may be warned or banned on the first instance.

Members are asked to use an appropriate and descriptive title when posting a new topic. The tagging system should be used when posting a new topic. Posts should be made in the relevant forum (a description about the contents of each forum is shown). By following these, everyone can find post content easier.

Members are asked to ensure their interactions (posts, PM's, and status updates) are consistent with 'normal writing' in the English language. Posts should be free from excessive emoticons or images. Users additionally should avoid posting text in full capital letters, extra-large or very small text and excessive punctuation in topics or posts.

Posts made on the forum are the sole property of their respective poster. The nsane.forums staff cannot be held responsible for the actions of its user base. If you take exception to a post and/or topic, please use the "Report" button to contact a member of staff (Reporting Tutorial). The staff will then perform the appropriate action. Please remember to include a reason for why you are reporting it, just in case it's missed.

The staff of this board retains the right to delete or modify any posts as they see fit.
