xyzdev
Today i was playing with IDM. I followed the guides from the first post and i take this opportunity to thank all the involved people around them. Here's my feedback: Installed IDM 6.23 Build 18 - Blocked in Windows Firewall only this IP: 169.55.0.224; When it asked for Serial Key i inserted one which i grabed from a Keygen; Checked couple of times, restarted, etc and no prompts for nothing, still activated. Installed IDM 6.23 Build 19 which came out today, no problems, still activated with only that IP and no nag screens. That IP blocks the "Check for Updates" in the app and apparently he's responsible for sending the check to IDM servers saying that the entered key is invalid. So i believe that we only need this IP to block contact regarding licensing. Will report back if some happens meanwhile. It's not that easy. You are lucky that you are only getting checked by one IP - may be you are lucky or it's a temporary system malfunction. Enjoy it till the nag screen appears back. Well, so far so good. The IP 169.55.0.224 is the one that checks for updates, if you block it you won't be able to use the "Check for updates" in IDM. The others don't block that feature. For example, if you use all the IP's in the first post and after register IDM if your remove 169.55.0.224 IP you'll be able to check for updates but as soon as you add it back it'll block it. This way i believe that the nag screen would come back sooner or later because 169.55.0.224 was missing. But with it blocked so far so good, maybe it will nag me someday, maybe... i was just curious testing what IP blocked the "Check for updates" feature because i would like that feature enabled but apparently the IP that blocks that feature also checks for your license. dcs18
Tip # 9 added to post # 1 and updated to post # 2 — this is a special return gift to Advocates of the hosts method for making disparaging statements about the firewall method (after the hosts was proved inferior & impotent.) :naughty:They are using it for preventing M$ from dialing home.....mere copy pasting might not work in all cases.for e.g. the IPs, domains, etc. maybe be version specific(Pro, Home, Education,Enterprise,N version,etc.etc.) and region specific(the one who originally worked it out). For e.g what if my computer is sending information to MS India and not MS US/Intl. then that hosts file will fail, I suppose. Moreover, the speed of your net connection(browsing) is inversely proportional to the no. of entries in the hosts.Just my 2cents 1rupee and 30paises :hehe:As a thumb rule, I never resort to dildo brandishing — however, when someone takes that direction, with uncharitable remarks . . . . . . . . I don't see any option left, other than a return gift. :dunno:

kmr1684
dcs18, i have one question for you, you see my pc specification is win 8.1(fully updated), i7, 8 gb ram, 250 gb hdd, and have 2 partition, first one have os installed, 2 one have programs needed, the thing is when i used acronis to take back up of the system ( full back up) by sector by sector (exclude unused space) option and tell it to verify after creation(hdd used space is total including both the partitions is aroung 60 gb, and extra option i selected when taking back up is compression level high, with password protection), acronis takes almost nearer to 3 hours to complete for taking back up and verifying it, same way if i restore the same partition with taken back up with the option verify the image before restoring, it takes almost 2 and half an hour to complete. you see back up image taken as well as restore is rock solid with out any failure till date, my only gripe is it takes more time compare to image for windows or active@ boot disk back up and restore time both are taking almost 15 minutes more or less, as well as the image taken and restore is same as acronis without any fail. because i trail it both, so i have hands on experience with it, my question is time difference between both acronis and IFW as well as is this normal with acronis, i mean is this way acronis works normally taking too much time or else it is behaving in my system like this. i want to know how many minutes it is taking in your case.please share it and clarify my dobut. I just want to say that the reason it is taking too long is due to it's been set to high compression during backup by you, which takes some time and the same happens while decompressing the highly compressed image. This is something similar to my own hardware specifications.8.1 Update 3 (fully patched Windows Update)Core i-7 (not over-clocked)8 GB RAM (not over-clocked)2 TB (single HDD @ 7,200 rpm)2 GPT Partitions (C:\ + D:\)C:\ (75 GBs = OS + Installations + Portables)D:\ (Data only)the thing is when i used acronis to take back up of the system ( full back up) by sector by sector (exclude unused space) option and tell it to verify after creation(hdd used space is total including both the partitions is aroung 60 gb, and extra option i selected when taking back up is compression level high, with password protection), acronis takes almost nearer to 3 hours to complete for taking back up and verifying it, same way if i restore the same partition with taken back up with the option verify the image before restoring, it takes almost 2 and half an hour to complete. you see back up image taken as well as restore is rock solid with out any failure till date, my only gripe is it takes more time compare to image for windows or active@ boot disk back up and restore time both are taking almost 15 minutes more or less, as well as the image taken and restore is same as acronis without any fail. because i trail it both, so i have hands on experience with it, my question is time difference between both acronis and IFW as well as is this normal with acronis, i mean is this way acronis works normally taking too much time or else it is behaving in my system like this. i want to know how many minutes it is taking in your case.please share it and clarify my dobut.I never backup the full HDD — my backups are only related to the C:\ volume (have never backed-up the D:\ volume.) My C:\ partition which is formatted to 75 GBs contains a free space of 17.3 GBs which means that the used space on my C:\ volume is around 57.7 GBs.For a backup of my C:\ partition (with the above storage statistics,) the latest ATI 2016, takes me about 21 minutes and ATI 2015, takes around 18 minutes — Macrium Technician Edition takes 29 minutes. Acronis produces a backup .TIB file which is 31 GBs.We have some serious differences in the time consumed — what I am wondering about your procedure:—If you have been using an Acronis installation, I suggest strongly to try a BootCD, instead — reason at post # 23. During backup, it is advisable to use Normal compression instead of High compression. Finally, I do hope that you were using the latest version of Acronis. For testing purposes, I suggest you try backing-up just the C:\ volume using a BootCD on Normal compression with the latest Acronis
kmr1684
hey rudax thanks for giving me a tip, but actually i thought my pc is busted that's why, anyway whenever i try to create a acronis universal restore iso, it's crated successfully and even i can burn it seccessfully using rufus into bootable usb, but still i am getting error stating some thing, i still have to take a picture of the eror so that i can explain well.do you ever seen any thing regarding these kind of error.
