I just installed ESET NOD32 Smart Security 4.0.417 x32 with the latest working fix (box, mara-fix v1.1) from TPB. Everything went smoothly and is working properly. My question is; Is it normal for the the remaining trail period to say 31 days after installation? Did i do something wrong? Did the fix work? Is this something that resets? It's bugging the crap out of me and I just wanted to ease my mind. Can someone be kind and explain this to me? Again, pardon my ignorance. Thanks! A well-done fix by nsane`s members, @box and @mara, with full instructions during installation.Another thing : Eset latest version is 4.0.424. LeetPirate Posted May 18, 2009 Share Posted May 18, 2009 Can anyone offer a reason why other than not creating exclusions in the installation directory why it should NOT be put there?Also other than my most recent troubles removing it...I'm not at all snubbing you -- I'm legitimately curious...The poster above you gave you the reason, NOD32 Self Defence is the reason. External programs and installers cannot modify, read or write to the nod32 installation directory which is why the creator of NodLogin has moved its installation location. I suggest you not try to make things difficult for yourself by still putting any tools in there, instead go up 1 directory level and just place them in the ESET folder.I always place every version of NodLogin in ESET directory, and all the same it's working perfectly fine.One thing is for sure though: always place NodLogin in the exclusion list.You are confused, he was trying to put NodLogin in "C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET NOD32 Antivirus", you have yours in "C:\Program Files\ESET", totally different situation as self defence does not protect the ESET folder except by what is inherited from the child folder "ESET NOD32 Antivirus". i.e. you still cannot delete the ESET Folder because the child object inside it is protected by self defence but you could create new files inside the ESET folder if you want. All my tools are inside the ESET folder too, there is no need to add them to the exclusion list in NOD32, they will never be flagged as a virus. As of v4, ESET has claimed better classification of threats and as such, tools like NodLogin fall into the category of PUA (potentially unwanted application), and not virus threat. PUA detection function is practically a nuisance to pirates as it flags most keygens and cracks, we know better so I never enable that feature. The best ESET could do is classify NodLogin as potentially harmful, because anything else would be a blatant lie. I doubt they would ever revert to the previous disorderly classification of threats used in v3, that would be a significant step backwards and they would lose credibility to stand up against other AV products. I never have nothing added to exclusions list and NodLogin, NodEnabler, and the java one Minodlogin all run without problems. I will wait till one of them is flagged before I add to exclusion list else I might be preparing for something that may never occur...ever. No way I'm going back to Vista after this.Also NLI works fine on win 7, at least as far as I can tell. It hasn't had to do much yet.When the programmer releases a version with an installer, it can be installed in Vista compatability mode and that might make it work better. I thought that meant it was probably working good but I was wrong. Just tried it on Vista 32bit. It said ERROR: the licenses sites are unavailable. What's next?EDIT: Tried it a few more times and it seems to be working now. It said Success. Anything else I could do? What was changed in this version anyway?One thing I should point out is that if I execute NodLogin in the same way it does not work, I have to right click and run as Admin even though my account has admin privileges.
