PureFix stopped working for me today, so I tried uninstalling NOD32 v4 and then removing the Purefix.

However, when I start Purefix now it says, "Existing ESET installation detected" even though I uninstalled NOD32.

Any ideas?

Forgot to mention I'm on Windows 7 Professional x64.

---

Okay after I used the ESET uninstaller in safe mode:

http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN146

Purefix no longer detected that NOD32 was installed.

Then, I ran Purefix as administrator and reinstalled NOD32 again.

---

Purefix now says I have 31 days left in the trial, but the following fixes listed in the readme.txt do not seem to work:

*Removal of 'Upgrade to full version' watermark from the Update tab.

*Greying out of 'Upgrade to full version' under Advanced settings > Update.

Can anyone confirm?

From the sound of it I would say you did not disable purefix before uninstalling NOD32.

Are you using an english language version?

Which version of purefix are you using?

When you ran purefix before installation - were you still in safe mode?

Hi PurplebeanZ,

I'm using the latest x64 version of NOD32 antivirus v4, English version.

I ran the latest version of Purefix (v1.52) in regular Windows mode (not safe mode).

@mara-: Just saw fixprotector.exe in the temp files. Just thought if it's the shutdowner in box, mara- fix v1.4. Though, not many AVs catch it (came to know about it only after scanning via Hitman). :)

Yeah, I renamed it, to reduce false positive.

Cheers ;)

That does have a good result. :)

Ok, if you remove NOD32 -> reboot -> delete the key HKLM\Software\ESET from the registry -> try again

should be fine after that :)

The box, mara-fix for ESET fixes (freezes) the trial days at 31 and enables you to download all updates.

The readme provides sufficient instructions on how to fix it ;)

Try waiting for the update to occur (a day or so), if this doesn't help:

UnFix ESET (just launch the fix again), reboot, Fix ESET again, reboot. Now it should update...

Just a heads up... My secondary update server.. which I added to ESET from here.. Was just seized by the DOJ and ICE... http://eauX.moXX.com/ According to what is implied by the front page.. it was taken down because of child pornography.. which has no connection to anything I knew about... and as far as that is concerned I hope the freak burns for it..

EDIT: This was a mistake by both entities who shut down over 84,000 sites by mistake for the same thing.. by accidentally seizing the DNS Server itself.. ( better quit molesting those applications people... :P ) Officially redacted..

ESET PureFix does NOT work with Windows Virtual PC - Windows XP Mode in Windows 7 Ultimate, I got an error....

Mara's fix does work so I used that one...
