Tested a proxy in IDM with Domain-Style Filter Rules in Adguard and it was working fine while retaining activation.

Theoretically, it should not work with IP-Style Filter Rules but I'm not testing it. :D

I'm not an adguard user,:P

but now curious with the result using proxy in IDM on adguard with IP style filter rules . :D

Most definitely, it won't work with IP-Style filter rules.

The thing is while using proxy, the domain for checking remains same but the related IP to that domain changes based on the proxy.

Unless you create block rules for those proxy IPs, which would be different for each individual depending on proxy IP used.

But Domain can handle it without much fuss 8)

@dcs18 @sledge101 I think since you guys are blocking it via system-wide domains, proxy in IDM should work for your method also, ryt? Anyone testing? :D

Also can both of you tell how accessing the following responds in your system:-

http://50.97.82.44/idman628build12.exe

And what setup you using like DNCRypyt (Domain+IP), DNSCrypt Domain+ Win FW IP, etc.

As dcs18 showed, yes,  you will get that result even with pure dnscrypt on my system as long as all ips and domains inputted as it should be and properly placed especially using internetdownloadmanger.com alone and not specifying each subdomains or ips under download manager

To enable only the selective idm updates in dnscrypt alone or using windows firewall as the ip blocker

you need to change dnscrypt domain and ip if you wish to download from idm specifically

Domains are:

softlayer.com
cmul.net
dyxnet.com
iivx.com
test.internetdownloadmanager.com
www.internetdownloadmanager.com
key.internetdownloadmanager.com
secure.internetdownloadmanager.com

blacklist.internetdownloadmanger.com (just added)
download.internetdownloadmanager.com
update.internetdownloadmanager.com
retail.internetdownloadmanager.com
mirror3.internetdownloadmanager.com

netdna-ssl.com
registeridm.com
telemetry.internetdownloadmanager.com
test2.internetdownloadmanager.com
sl-reverse.com
theplanet.com

IP - Red shown is only specific for updates and retail download.  you can exclude that in windows firewall or ip dnscrypt  as long as domains are placed above. By doing that @takers ip as shown above/posted works nicely and even inside idm mirror2/5, you can download and update idm without the nag in my system.

Note:  SEE:   test.internetdownloadmanger.com  has also test2.internetdownloadmanger.com ( it has 42 ips there).  You cannot use windows firewall in ip blocking alone,  you need some anti-dns spoofing for that.

Anyway, using adguard alone in combination of domain and ip definitely works.

I am currently doing another method.... laterz. Back to work.

The way I see it — on every new IDM release, the first person to download the installer should upload the same to any friendly download host and post it here — I'll ensure pointing a link to that person's post right on the OP (would also ensure the link on the OP is kept updated each time a new IDM build is released.) ;)

For example:—

I think it's better to block it as whole because you never know the first part *.internetdownloadmanager.com.

For e.g.

Even http://undertaker.internetdownloadmanager.com/    is a valid link, you could try it with any other term also like beta, alpha and so on....so we don't know for sure whether they have something related to activation or not. But all of them have same IP.

Actually blocking it as a whole is the best way to avoid idm calling home, no doubt bout that.  I only showed it if the user wants to download from the idm site then it is possible however, we compromised the chance of idm blocking it from calling home fully. A sacrifice though if i may say.... Furthermore even placing the ips or dns into the browser may compromised it with such a loophole due to idm browser capturing mechanism.

IMHO, it not a big deal if you cannot download updates or the retail setup as there are a lot if nsane user here posting updates as soon as it arrives .;)

I'm now on Adguard only. I'll try and upload the IDM installer setup if I can. I say this because they usually release updates when its late here in my country. So I maynot be the fastest to upload the setup file.

Ic...  Besides we dont need to worry about updates as im sure most nsane users here will upload the setup files and for sure i can provide... :) when the release comes out. Btw, IDM callback has been spotted.  :P Tinkering again with my idm .:D

hmm... let me see about 6 all in all after a clean slate upon internet connection B)

i was monitoring how idm behaves.... :)  even with a blocking method it still creates the those keys but we retain activation as we are blocking the idm callbacks ,i think i forgot who posted it here but he seems to post the IDMAN.exe calling home  idman --> +channel1 to channel 5......  until it pushes thru the checking....hmmm..... if i can disable it.... hmmm

Removing the Fake Serial Nag at Downloads

If your IDM is showing fake serial notification on downloads, follow the below mentioned steps to do away with the notification:-

1) Download Registry Trash Keys Finder(RTKF). Although, full version is preferred but free version is good enough to unearth this key.

2) Close and exit IDM completely.

3) Swtich off your internet i.e. go in offline mode.

4) Open RTKF. In Menu Bar, go to File and select 'Switch to 32-bit mode' option.

5) Now search for the key with 'Empty CLSID key' in the right hand side description.

6) Right click and choose 'Delete Selected Keys' option.

(Click on the Image to have a better view)

https://i.imgur.com/8AmrKDb.png

The key need not be named the same as shown in the screenshot and hence you must use RTKF yourself to find out the exact name but key description should remain the same.

There's lots of cracks/patches being developed by various peoples (since IDM continuously beating them) which made ME to unfollow this practical method & to adopt IP BLOCK METHOD

It would seem that Kaspersky might possible lack the DNS anti-spoofing capability that COMODO possesses (unless you had not blocked the IDM domains on your Kaspersky — don't also remember now, whether domain-blocking is possible on Kaspersky or not.) yXZVmpE.gif

I had been using IP Block (both normal + CIDR method) by applying on Kaspersky & windows firewall (since few times I need to keep kaspersky turned off) , , but nearly over a week that fake serial key popup started to appear -_- .

UPDATE 1:  After deleting , the key  {D5B91409-A8CA-4973-9A0B-59F713D25671}  again appeared . . .

 sef.png

UPDATE 2: Deleted the key again , no restart . . . Tried to download the previous files , , , no popup (probably since the key no more exists) , so recreation of that specific key needs to be stopped .

That is intended behavior, everytime you will open IDM, that key will be recreated(if deleted)
