No such issues here with NOD32 on any of the systems (belonging to me or even my Customers - Windows 8 and Windows 7, too) - have never had an opportunity of checking with HIPS enabled, though.

recently I experienced the same in eset nod32 v6! Cpu 100% and freezed, even I could not do ctrl-alt-del! Had to press power button in oder to force the computer shutting down! I never experienced like this in v5!

I have to re-instal to solve the problem! :(

If this continues once again, I will move to v5

Are you installing it onto the OS drive?

I found the hanging problem if I installed ESET onto a drive that did not have the OS installed.

Perhaps your Cpu and dated ... old? otherwise you HD small and little RAM available. :)

Yes. I install all the at boot stuff and important stuff (AVs, firewalls, browsers, etc.) on the main drive - which is apparently the fastest drive. Sometimes I do notice HDD led activity when the system hangs, but is probably not always.

Yes, that's right! It happened when I was downloading a file and eset scanned it quite long with high cpu and then computer freezed! That was my first experience that eset acting like that! Never have any problem before! Precisely on version 6.0.3.0.8! But I'm upgrading to version 3.1.6; so far so good! :D

Same here, windows 7 x64 is hanging at "Welcome Screen", uninstall ESET.....problems gone (Eset SS 6.0.316.0).

You could try clearing your Update Cache - also, ensure you used the box, mara- 1.7 final instead of the 1.7 beta.
