someone
@ shajt: You only tried Ubuntu distro? If you have time, i suggest you other 2 distros: 1.Linux Mint - based in Debian/Ubuntu - is compatible with Ubuntu packages/repositories and come with flash, dvd and others multimedia codecs alongside with more support to old video cards, wifi drives and another hardware drives out of the box. The Version 9 Isadora come in a live CD and now have a DVD one too, with VLC, and alot of anothers good app installed. 2.PCLinuxOS - Very nice friendly distro. 2010 release is great.I like alot opensuse, but is not so friendly like this 2. But deserve a run too.
shajt
Yes, I tried those distros as well as few others, they all use same engines for sound.Everything else is fine and working great, but not having 5.1 sound is too much for me.And it really doesn't matter now, because having a look at linux world and then going back to Win7 made me to ask myself one question 'Why did I even bother...'I was using Linux 10-15 ago but it's still way behind Windows and it will always be like that I'm afraid.Yes, you can browse internet, check email, don't care about security, and .... that's it :)Of course you can play music and watch movies, but Win is doing that so much better  It's good for web hosting and such though, but that's it :)
someone
Yeah... i need a VM with Win7 here because of this... sometimes you need alot of read/search to make simple things, like make sound work or install the latest Video drives ( I have a old motherboard with a ATI x1200 Onboard VGA and i think only God can make the latest drives work here). Even plug a cellphone/digital cam to download some pictures can make you crazy. Last time was 3 hours until i make it work. But for me, the problem is with developers, not with linux. If ATI/Nvidia give best support to it, the game industry too... well... we can dream...

R0H1T
Currently ESS(NOD32) is enough even though I've been infected at times when the AV was turned OFF/not intsalled whilst trying out a few cracks/keygen but got rid off of them pretty easily thereafter !
