The strange thing is that I didn`t have any problems with nod32 5.065 beta - only when changed to 5.0.84RC problems appeared :frusty:

I can not decide.

Kis 2012 or Nis 2012, Kis 2012 is very heavy on the system, but has a low false posetives and sandbox plus other great features.

Nis 2012 is very light on the system but has a crazy high false posetives, and have no sandbox.

I've tested both Kis and Nis in 2012 in a Virtual Machine.

And gave them a batch

with 40 virus from malwaredomanlist, both did very well (Kis 2012 = 3 virus went through) (Nis 2012 = 0 virus went through)

Since NIS 2012 wont be released until September i recommend KIS 2012. Don't download that NIS 2012 that is called "OEM"... it isn't the final version, it is just a beta version for OEM partners.

Is nothing an option?

Never had a problem, in case of emergency a plain ol' check with ComboFix, and it's good to go! (never had to do this, in any case :P)

naked ...!.....

no AV or FW for the last 3 or 4 months ...!

no FW because , the router has it .

no AV , well,,,,,, was tired of ESET ,

and also thought of trying every other product .

so installing and uninstalling almost every Security product available to date ,

and

in the end finally decided to let go of all ........ ! B)

that was 3 or 4 months back ...

just running Firefox with custom add-ons and security add-ons and settings ,

once in a while scan with MBAM and SuperAntiSpyware and BitDefender Live Scan ( Its Fast .... )

knowing what to download and surf and from where .

pretty much , thats it ..^_^

and there is nothing that creeped into the system , no infection , in these last few months .

checked with multiple scanners ( Hitman , PrevX , etc ..... )

and my computer is connected almost 25 hrs a day to the net ..... !

banking , college , tests , torrents , sharing , streaming , d/l , u/l , evreything ;)

and Damn i love it how my system is running as of now .......

its a big black stallion , fast and quick and responsive ....! 8)

( p.s. - anti malware options i would recommend are nod32 , Norton and Avast . only ones i found worth keeping ..... ;) )
