Only if you unninstall Rbrx, defrag, reinstall. My recommandation, switch to Ax64 TIme Machine, RBrx is unreliable in this period, since Windows 8.1 this program fail to work properly for many users.

Hi !

there is no need to uninstall rollback rx to defrag c. as far as 3rd party defraggers it's better to use one of them over the windows defragger. i use o&o defrag.

Use of Defragmenter Programs Once installed, Rollback Rx blocks the use of defragmentation programs. The reason for this is that Rollback Rx tracks sector change activity,
relocates some sectors, and maintains its own map of all sector locations on the hard drive. Defragmentation is the process of locating the noncontiguous sectors of a file and rearranging the sectors and restoring them into fewer sectors. As a result, once Rollback Rx is installed, the work done by a defragmentation program would not provide the desired result. Thus, defragmentation programs are blocked. The need for a defragmenter varies according to file system and the amount of file creation and update activity on a hard drive. Horizon Datasys recommends that defragmentation be done before installing Rollback Rx. In addtion, Rollback Rx has a build-in defragmenter as the alternative.

If we use the defragment... after installing RollbackRX then what will happen?

Before installing RollbackRx :

I defragment for Windows ( 0% ) -> Start installing rollbackRx -> After a period of use -> fragmentation windows (5%) -> Run RollbackRx and defragment -> Results still 5% fragmentation ====> Why ????????

RollBack Rx PC is always at crossroads with defragmenting software - absolute loggerheads with PerfectDisk.

5% defragmentation means nothing these days. You're not in the 90' to have this worry. Since you're not a server and you're not creating thousands of files/hour every day, there's no need to defragg your HDD every day, and I'd say that even every month is useless.

all i know is i've had NO problems with defragging with o&o defrag With rollback rx installed either in vista, 7, or 8.1.1. i have not looked at that article, but what i will tell you is rollback takes a snapshot(picture) of the state of the files on your c drive. once this snapshot is taken it is NOT affected by defragging with a 3rd party defragger, so the only thing that will happen if you use a 3rd party defragger and for some reason have to roll back your system to a point before you defraged is you MIGHT have to defrag again. now to be fair i cannot speak for other 3rd party defraggers. there has only been once over the years that i have been using rollback that it actually became corrupted, and i honestly do not know what caused that. the main reason i prefer rollback over system restore is the fact that so far rollback snapshots have proven to be unbreakable by viruses, rootkits, or trojans so far, whereas restore points are able to be corrupted by any of the three. ultimately it's what the enduser is most comfortable with. actually i would recommend defragging once a month.

Mathematically, that is a 100% failure not a 5% - as a Perfectionist . . . . . . . . personally, I would never settle for even a 1% failure. :nono:

However, people are all born differently - some might want to remain content with RollBack Rx and the failure it causes in defragmenting. :dunno:

  • 1 month later...

why I can't use my mouse into the sub console menu ?

Because that's how it is. You have to use arrows+enter to select what you want. It's simiar to BIOS mode.

RollBack was the same way years back even it messed up my defrag in xp and after so long it started messing up my computer . It also messed up my friends computer who was using windows 7 at the time. One heck of a price to pay to use a glorified windows restore . Its not changed a bit since back when SnD 1st keygened it. I dont recommend no one using this software .

Backup Windows using RollBack Rx - and then,

backup Windows and RollBack Rx using Acronis. tx38TOr.gif

no need for acronis if you're using rollback and no need of rollback if you're using acronis.

no need for acronis if you're using rollback and no need of rollback if you're using acronis.

:nono: Backup images are indispensable for RollBack Rx users, but i prefer Image for Windows :)

RollBack Rx is just for convenience of ultra-fast snapshots and restores :D
