ESET v4 Fixes

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

long time nsaneproductions/nsanedown reader, just registered.

I have a question about Marafix.

Just installed (nod32 antivirus and marafix1.1) and my signatures are from April 9th, its been installed a couple of days now and it keeps telling me i'm up to date when i do a manual update.

I've read all your posts on the update servers being busy.

Do i need to enter a username/password?

Should i just wait another week and see if it automatically updates?

Cheers

Try this:

The procedure to get the latest updates(I'd recommend waiting for the ESET servers to recover if you're not having any problems):

- Open ESET, Advanced setup and disable Self-defense.

- Reboot.

- Go to 'C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET NOD32 Antivirus or Smart Security' and delete all files called 'em0x_32.dat' (x is a number from 01 to maybe 13). To delete these files Self-defense has to be disabled, if you still can't delete them please try using a free program called 'Unlocker'.

- Open ESET, Advanced options, Antivirus and antispyware, Update press 'Clear update cache' and enter one of these updates servers:

http://um12.eset.com/eset_eval/
http://um13.eset.com/eset_eval/
http://u42.eset.com/eset_eval/
http://u49.eset.com/eset_eval/
http://u53.eset.com/eset_eval/
http://u54.eset.com/eset_eval/

- Pick it as update server in the drop down box.

- Try updating 5 times.

- If you didn't receive the update yet repeat the three previous steps, but pick another server.

- You should now have received the latest ESET updates.

- Enable Self-defense and reboot again.

If you have any additions to this explanation please post them here

@motorider @shought

My recommendation would be leave it alone!

His update WILL arrive, people just have to be patient!! :s

The idea of deleting the .dat files is only a sound one IF YOU ARE ALREADY HAVING A PROBLEM, but not receiving an update for a couple of days DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A PROBLEM?! :s Furthermore, in my experience it does NOT seem to guarantee an update will arrive any quicker!

I finally found time to repair a machine I have with ESS 3.0.650 that was coming up with General Compile Error when trying to update, I deleted the .dat files, and I still got a message saying I didn't need to update! :s

It took MANY hours of clicking the update button every 15mins or so before it finally brought a working and UP-TO-DATE database in.

All I can say is I would NOT have used this procedure if I hadn't been receiving the tGCE when trying to update.

I do not know why people are panicking so much just because they have not had an update for a couple of days? :s

Chill people! all good things come to those who wait!

Cheers

Cheers guys,

I'll leave it for a few more days.

I was happy with V3.x (with good old marsufix) but it seemed to not be getting updates anymore either so i changed to v4

No other issues atm.

Commercial users get priority above trial users. Mine updates fine because I'm using the nodlogin patch. This auto insert valid licenses to your ESET and then you have priority. The servers of ESET are damn busy the last days so I would advise to just wait, or use a license key finder (like nodlogin). :)

I would add to shought list and:

http://um11.eset.com/eset_eval/

I'm using this server for last few days and I get at least one Eset update. Enough for me.

Cheers :)

this probably has been posted dozens of times, but I cant find it..

When I try to use the mara-fix I keep getting the message that self-defense is enabled and that I have to disable it,

while it is disabled!

Running the following:

Vista Home Premium 32-bit

Eset Smart Security V 4.0.424.0

Can anyone help me out on this?

Thanks in advance.

@Ama®ok:

Did you try rebooting after disabling self-defense?

You also might try disabling all protection, as well, prior to applying fix. Another option might be to stop ESET services from your administrator sevices window (type services.msc in the start box) and changing their start properties to manual or disable before rebooting and applying the fix.

chrisTM out.

You have to right-click the fix and press 'Run as admin' for it to work ;)

Hi all!

Great thread and thanks to all of you.

Strange problem here:

- Installed Nod32 4.0.424

- Started boxmara-fix.v1.1

- Disabled Self-Defense and reboot

- Applied the fix (auto-re-enabling Self-Defense) and reboot

- ...

- BSOD!! - PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, STOP 0x00000050

Then I rebooted my computer with F8 -> "Last working configuration..." and it boot well.

But every time I power on my notebook it give me a BSOD and then I have to reboot with "Last working config..."

Is it possible to know exactly what the fix is doing on my system to solve the problem??

Thank you!

Thanks everyone for your input.

It updated tonight by itself, then i was able to do a manual update afterwards.

Seems to be just that first update after installation takes ages.

Thank you Bizarre.

I read but they're talking about defective RAM and I kwow about because I did Memtest as soon as I did get the problem. All wents well.

The strange is that the computer boots regularly when I choose "Last working config.."

I'm sure is a registry problem but I don't know what the box/mara fix really do to understand how to solve.

@asterisko, i dont think box/mara fix caused the problem, since you r the only one with this problem

@asterisko:

Then you better remove NOD32 v4 completely.

Post back if you still encounter the BSOD.
