Windows 7 testing

Just checking in, are there any more Windows 7 testers out there?

And how are you doing Wyrm?

Maybe, if you allow and some people are able you could write the review you're planning on writing with a few guys together(it's always better to have multiple opinions).

I suppose Windows 7 can be installed in VMWare as well, so I might be doing that when it actually gets released...

I'm running Nod32 V4 with build 7057.

In previous build of Win7 i tried running Eset Smart Security V4 beta on it but got firewall and internet connection problem.

Could someone confirm if latest Eset Smart Securty V4.0.314 works fine with build 7057 ? BTW i'm running 7057 x64.

Build 7100 is the Official RC Build.

This is the version listed in msdn

@Zeus_Hunt

Thank you for the reply.

I was downloading more than 2 gig of 7106. I stopped and I will wait the availability of the public version.

I found in the net that it will be available around the 5th may.

Anyone know if Eset Nod32 2.7 works on Windows 7? I'm still using that because I like it's slimmer interface.

Tested it! as promised, fed up not finding sound driver for my lappy (Dell Latitude D600)(+ few other drivers had to bodged up)and have erased the thing... alright it has some intention of not crashing (allowing errors to flow through), it has some "girly" interfaces, but it does uses more resources that XP, support is very limited, few usual apps dont run on it...

Might run occasionally from USB, but will not give up on just XP yet!

You're Welcome

Btw @ Atasas. It's still the RC version. Don't worry. Btw.. Comparing W7 with XP.. hmm.. W7 is way safer and way heavier.. (@ design and kernel) But XP is still a good one :lmao:

Guys, can you share your experience with Windows 7 RTM. Unfortunately, I have pretty much bad experience. Win 7 is definitely faster then Vista in boot and shutdown, but other things looks bad. First thing, I can not run almost any of the games in full screen, if that game does not support my native resulution of monitor. Picture will not strech completelly. This is probably nVidia driver problem. But, this is small issue. Here are the two biggest problems I have:

- something is eathing almost all of my RAM memory after couple of hours. I don't think it's SuperFetch, since computer starts to be pretty much unresponsive. Also, in the task manager, I can't find any application taking that amount of memory. To solve a problem, I need to reboot, which is annoying since something will eat my memory again after couple of hours.

- When ever I do some processing, like video processing, computer also becomes pretty much unresponsive, and it's very hard to do anything else, until the task of processing is finished.

Maybe this will look funny to somebody, but on my machine Vista is much more stable and have better responsivness (I can process a video, and computer will not become unresponsive). It takes maybe 20 seconds more to boot, and maybe 5-10 seconds longer to shutdown, but it's really stable. Maybe, the problem is not in Seven, but in some driver or application, but I'll have to go back to Vista, and wait for the final, stable and compatible version of drivers and applications.

Hopefully, that will happen when Seven is released for everyone, on 22. October.

Note: When I say unresponsive, I don't mean on totaly unresposnive. I don't know how to say it in other way. I mean that computer becomes slow, and I need to wait longer for some applications to open, and when they open, I need to wait that it becomes resposive. Again, this did not happen on Vista.

Please share your experience.

Cheers :)
