But the IP-block method acts acts as a safeguard (and also second line of defense as well), in case if the patch (especially if it wasn't updated for a long time) is not effective anymore. I used IP block and patch together for a worry-free IDM copy. Plus, the "fixed bugs" on every IDM changelogs could also be a hint that they're trying to defeat the patches.
