It also supports multiple kernel drivers in a single process

A new development release of the popular Wine open-source and cross-platform software for running Windows applications and games on any GNU/Linux or Mac OS X operating system has been announced.

While not a stable build, Wine 1.9.18 is the most advanced version, bringing numerous changes and new features like support for multiple kernel drivers in a single process, better WebServices reader support, enhanced joystick support, as well as improved Graphics Device Interface (GDI) performance.

Moreover, Wine 1.9.18 comes with additional work for the upcoming Direct3D command stream, various improvements to IME (Input Method Editors) window handling, and compatibility fixes for the built-in clipboard support. Of course, numerous Windows games and apps received bugfixes as well in the new Wine development release.

Fallout 4, Necropolis, and Tropico 5 were improved

Among the Windows games that received improvements in Wine 1.9.18, we can mention Fallout 4, Tropico 5, Necropolis, Fable: The Lost Chapters, SAS: Secure Tomorrow, Mob Ties Tokyo, Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA, Star Wars Republic Commando, Spartan Demo, Wings of Vi, Need For Speed: The Run, We Happy Few, Magic Duels, and No Man's Sky.

On the other hand, Wine 1.9.18 brings better support for the Microsoft Office 2000 Server Extensions Configuration Wizard, Microsoft Office 2010, Nabeta Jisho for Japanese, YY and Netease POPO for Chinese, SmartMusic 2012/2014, Shim Database to XML, and MiTeC System Information X applications designed for the Microsoft Windows operating system.

Of course, many other bugs reported by users since Wine 1.9.17 have been addressed in the new development release, which you can download right now, so check out the changelog below for details. When testing Wine 1.9.18, please try to keep in mind that this is a pre-release version towards Wine 2.0, the next stable branch of the software, which means that some issues are still present.
