Batu69
Study shows 4 out of 5 workers go for Apple in BYOD Microsoft’s betting big on enterprise for Windows 10 adoption, trying to make its new operating system a key product in the office, but a new study shows that Apple might actually be winning this battle, at least when it comes to BYOD. Employees who are allowed to bring their own devices (BYOD) at work choose Apple in most of the cases, according to a new survey conducted by JAMF software, while only some age categories appear to be more interested in Windows. Specifically, 4 in 5 employees said they prefer using a Mac and an iPhone at work, with the majority pointing to the ease of use as the main reason. 79 percent of the respondents said they want an iOS device during a typical work day. As ITPRoPortal notes, Apple products are mostly preferred by employees aged 18-54 while Windows is a more popular choice for workers older than 55. Microsoft’s bet on enterprise The Redmond-based software giant hopes that the enterprise migration to Windows 10 would, in the end, help the company achieve its goal of bringing the new operating system on 1 billion devices by 2017. At this point, there are some 270 million devices running Windows 10, but Microsoft expects these figures to grow significantly in the coming months, as more companies will complete their pilot programs for the new OS and then start the migration. But as far as the BYOD push is concerned, Microsoft can’t do much in this regard, as it needs to convince employees directly that Windows 10 is a better choice than Mac computers. And this is exactly what the company is trying right now, and the upcoming Anniversary Update for Windows 10 will bring many more improvements supposed to make the new OS more appealing to all user categories, including both consumers and enterprise customers. RejZoR
Who would want to use Windows 10 in their company knowing the OS basically sends EVERYTHING you do on it to Microsoft and it's 3rd party partners. Why not just post all of your company secrets on your building walls, everyone to see? Of course companies are hesitating or refusing to use Windows 10 even if everything else is great. steven36
In business some allow you to bring you're own cell phone but not all jobs there's A need for cell phones or need for a PC ether its according what department you're in . In many jobs if they caught you messing around on a pc or phone all the time they would fire you . The reason Chrome O/S is still around is because business bought so many of them and they have to support it tell its end of life. http://uk.businessinsider.com/why-google-cant-kill-chrome-os-2015-11?r=US&IR=T Business use every O/S known even in some places they still use XP in business . Just because people are buying MAC units more than Windows units dont mean much . The reason many buy MAC it has free upgrades . But in Business were many pcs are needed most are still using refurbished Windows 7 units they bought after they were forced off Windows xp . MAC OSX PCs are not cheap and training people to use them are not cheap ether , so mostly only developers and the Big Wigs are just buying them for there own office . Here's the problem with companies that allow employees to BYOD - 'bring your own devices' Quote Nonreimbursed expenses are a big concern for employees who opt to BYOD. Less than half of all employees in the surveyed markets receive reimbursement for work-related use of their personal phones. Most employees spend a significant amount of time completing work-related tasks on mobile devices outside of working hours. In the US, 37% of employees spend more than 10 nonoffice hours completing work-related tasks on mobile. That share stands at 19% in the UK and 38% in Spain. Companies that have BYOD policies, and employees who complete work-related tasks on personal mobile devices without official BYOD policies, are unlikely to have or encourage the use of business apps. Just 5% of US employees using their personal devices for mobile work tasks use business apps. This likely reflects a dearth of work-related apps created by companies with BYOD policies. http://uk.businessinsider.com/this-is-the-problem-with-bring-your-own-device-policies-2015-7?r=US&IR=T What BYOD is doing is killing the need for Enterprise software witch is a blow to Microsoft , RHE and anyone else who makes it . And it just adds extra expense to the employe .
