I will, after some time — just busy with some deployments, right now.

I have tried first method. Really innovative, works fine but I think we need more than that.
I suppose that a malware run it with administrative rights can revert those values to default states without problems.

Am I right?

Have not tried the method with Process Lasso: I do not have installed it right now.

Greetings,

;)

One of the objectives of malwares is to report back to the Makers about the host machine/s — therefore, they need to deal with the firewall if they aren't able to call home.

Malwares try to terminate the firewall (and other components of our security systems) using methods similar to the Task Manager — have not yet come across any reported attempts by malware to change values at the services.

For most purposes, the general User is not much affected — but in an Enterprise environment, clients try to revert those values in an attempt to bypass Administrative restrictions.

All said — yes, this is but just a workaround. Ideally, program termination protection should be issued as an in-built mechanism from the Developer endpoint — just try to terminate such a program (namely ESET Self-Defense.)

Have been testing COMODO — it continues to be the best firewall. Also, the resource consumption has now been drastically reduced on the latest V11 — however, the COMODO Firewall resource-hogging is still higher than acceptable norms.

Both my systems are BSODing since past few months, dunno why : (

Check your Event Viewer for clues — you might be able to identify possible conflicts and then be in a position to resolve the same.

Personally, I reformat my systems once in 9 months regardless of how well they've been functioning — brings a fresh breath of life to the HardDisk/s.

@dcs18 Sir, I have been using SwiftKey keyboard since many years now, how does it compare with that keyboard you recommended ?

Swype is a Guinness holder for the world record speed typing and used to be superior — however, it's now a abandonware.

The choice between Swype and SwiftKey is now just a matter of personal taste.

Any thoughts ?!

Hello Jime ,

I am having this problem, too, sometimes.
In my case it is generated by a power management driver. I have some ThinkPad notebooks from Lenovo.

Try to see what generated your issue. Take a look to:

Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer -> Windows Logs -> System.

A BSOD should appear at Critical level.

@dcs18

I got some PM(s) from @knowledge

He is very worried concerning your last dispute about firewalls.

He thinks that your friendship might be affected by this difference of opinions.

My personal point of view is it:

  • We are know each other from years,  don't let someone / something to break our friendship, more than that when is about programs.
  • The best thing in life is that we are different, we can have different options, but, during these years, were more things that kept us united than to divide us.
  • I have a good feeling when I come here knowing that I have good friends, that helped me or which I helped them when I could. Actually, this is the only reason for which I haven't gave up.

Please try a reconciliation, Guys!

Wish you a great day! ;)
