After posting that piece to which you quoted, I did make an effort to read-up on Balatan's original Spotify thread and my inference was that there indeed seems to be something that was making unsolicited calls — however, the participants in that conversation could not identify whether those calls were being generated by Balatan's code or by the app. Spotify, itself.

Indeed, it is hard to say if those calls are a part of an additional code injected by the cracker or are a part of the the app. itself considering the developers of Spotify are crazy against the piracy nowadays, and the calls are going to Amazon AWS ( a cloud service platform ) instead of Bank of New York, for e.g.

Hopefully, you’ve already had a chance to test the new tasker API. This beta will give you something new to play with: proxy settings. Two new actions become available: proxy_state and proxy_default. The first one enables/disables the outbound proxy, the latter sets any of the previously configured proxies as default. More detailed description of these actions is in our KB article.

Wiped-off Build 212ƞ and restarted my device to install 214ƞ but discovered the newer 216ƞ and performed a clean install — however, Build 216ƞ is still reflected as:—
