Procedure: 1. NOT INSTALL IDM YET. Install, activate & update ESET products (Home or Business) (DO IT YOURSELF) The following screenshot are based on ESET Endpoint Antivirus (a business product), but it should be (almost) the same for other ESET products 2. Open Web access protection setup (DO IT YOURSELF). 3. Go to URL address management section and click on Edit 4. On the Address list window, choose List of blocked addresses and click on Edit. On the Edit list window, Add the following 10 domains (credit to @dcs18). Click on Enter multiple value to enter these 10 domains at the same time so it'll be quicker. Reveal hidden contents *.cmul.net/* *.dyxnet.com/* *.iivx.com/* *.internetdownloadmanager.com/* *.netdna-ssl.com/* *.registeridm.com/* *.sl-reverse.com/* *.softlayer.com/* *.theplanet.com/* *.tonec.com/* For starters: Remember to click OK to save changes FINALLY: Install IDM (Trial or Retail) and activate with any key. List active must be ON all the time or the activation will be blocked. Prevent IDM from starting up at system startup is advised. Results: Reveal hidden contents Enjoy your IDM hey @tomm, if I use this domain blocking only will it be sufficient or IP blocks explained before in the OP are required too ?? How can I download these files? IDM installers are not hosted on internetdownloadmanager.com (169.55.40.5 and 169.55.0.224) p.s: Never mind, I will try downloading idmupdt.exe using these 2 URLs http://169.55.0.224/updates/dfghrtv3465773FRJD843dedhx250dlAsb/idmupdt.exe http://169.55.40.5/updates/dfghrtv3465773FRJD843dedhx250dlAsb/idmupdt.exe Restarted IDM successfully with no nagging and ESET still can do its job. Yes, Adguard IP blocking is faster than WFC IP blocking. Infact, Adguard IP blocking is faster than even its own Domain blocking capabilities. Undertaker
It all began here when I read a signature:- Quote A light little add-on like Element Hiding Helper for Adblock Plus can make a helluva difference in looks, page-loading speed and security (against malware) when teamed up with Adblock Plus (even if loaded with just a single filter subscription such as EasyList.) The amazing difference in looks – when a website can be stripped down is demonstrated with test comparatives at the two topmost sites (notorious for their extreme advertisements) at the download link below, illustrated as before and after use of the two above-mentioned add-ons:– Download (Please exercise discretion while opening these documents in front of others.) You download the code from this website, unpack the archive, and build it for whatever system you plan to run it on. You will need a UNIX system with an ANSI C compiler, basic POSIX support, and a 64 bit integer type. BIND runs and is supported on a very wide variety of new and old operating systems, including most UNIX and LINUX variants, and some Windows platforms. 3 minutes ago, dcs18 said: The Adblock Plus tutorial was quite comprehensive and had to be split into Part-1 and Part-2 — unable to locate the link to the other part.
