Cause application recognise your Windows 8 or 8.1 key only ask the does not recognise usually Office keys, if you open config file with notepad you will see all the key serial has been restore there,

Since sometimes I prefer to do the coding my self and backup/ restore an activation my way
I will share this new manual way to backup/ restore windows 8.1's activation

Ok first of all copy and paste these 2 files
C:\Windows\System32\spp\store\2.0\tokens.dat
C:\Windows\System32\spp\store\2.0\data.dat

Then make them copy and paste into a text file their product key.
"XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX"

Thats the backup part, now the restore activation steps...

Open up Command Prompt (admin)
type in: slmgr -upk
type in: slmgr -ilc C:\location\tokens.dat
type in: slmgr -ilc C:\location\data.dat
(location here is the location where they saved the tokens.dat)
type in: slmgr -ipk (Insert Key Here)
type in: slmgr -ato

And thats it you should now be reactivated...

Hey november_ra1n!! I hope by some chance you catch this post. I just spent a few hours on nsane trying to figure out how to deal with a re-install of Win 8 and get back my Office 2013 installation. There's so many threads and so many pages on the subject going back over a year now, that I'm not sure what the best info is at this point and was hoping you could help point me in the best direction.

About a year ago I installed Office 2013 on Win 8. I used Mak keys that you helped out with (thank you again!). This week I had to re-install and upgrade Win 8 to 8.1 and used Advanced Tokens Manger to backup my Office 2013 licensing -- it's actually 3 different licenses, separate ones for Visio and Project. My Win 8 license is legit so it's not an issue, just the Office 2013.

Now I've tried to use Advance Tokens Mgr, but I'm getting the "Backup doesn't match" prompt. I read in the nfo for Advanced Tokens and they suggest manually entering the key into the registry if that happens, but I'm not locating any info on which keys you have to use to enter the license.

I assume its too late for Microsoft tool kit (which I'm just reading about here now) to be of any help to me (is that correct?), so what would you suggest as my best bet at this point? Is there some way to get back that volume licensing (which has worked perfectly for a year now), or am I better off just trying to find new keys and not hassle with this? Also, do you know of a listing somewhere that shows the registry keys you have to go to to manually enter license information?

Thanks so much again.

P.S. My landlord hates you because I use the copy of Word you helped me out with to write him many nasty letters

I will give you simple solution do not bother about your previous backup files for Office 2013 there is brand new Office 2013 with SP1 All Lenguages there >>> simply download and install and activate again with working MAK Keys posted there >>>

When you backup actually you backup all in one that means Windows 8.1, Office Pro Plus, Visio and Project Pro will be in same backup files but you need to remember ATM OR MTK can not deject MAK Keys cause this key invisible and hidden therefore during backup progress you need to enter those keys manually..!

Good Luck..
