Speeds on real-vpn have been awesome, generally I can't even notice much difference between surfing through them or going through my regular internet connection. My only concern is occasionally wondering who the heck they are, and if it's really safe running my web whereabouts (and other stuff...) through them. I guess that's the case with many of these though. I would think that type of concern would make for considering something like the comodo trust mentioned above.

Any of you ever wonder about safety concerns with some of these vpn's? I mean, who is real-vpn, and why are they giving me this nice, free vpn service to use? I looked them up on whois, but not very revealing. Anyway, safety with these vpn outfits might be an interesting topic of discussion.

Advice I'd give is to only use the most well known companies that have a good track record. Avoid the free ones no one has ever heard about. Check all the small print or ask about what data they retain,and for how long, lots lie about it btw. Most companies will happily give up your details if theres a criminal investigation so be aware of that.

If your using it for downloading questionable material don't sign up to one who asks for name,address, phone number etc because they will give up your info without hesitation.

Security wise the way the dodgy ones work is by infecting pc's and then using them as a vpn which is sold or free to anyone who signs up with them. You think you have a good service but your using some poor guys pc.

Make sure you aren't hosting your own vpn to others without realizing it by checking your connections with something like CCE Killswitch. As far as I've been told, look at all your svchost entries and if they have a lot of ip addresses next to them then thats bad. :o

This is only basic guidance and theres always going to be exceptions to this, but it's a good place to start imo.

Any more advice would be useful if anyone can contribute B) Im not very technical lol. I'll probably think of more later.

A lot of vpn companies don't allow p2p use, it should say in there details. Good if you don't either as less chance of all day leechers using it. If you do use p2p better to look for companies that allow it or else you could get cut off after you've paid your money.

that’s it! enjoy! Hotspot Shield is fast unlike any other tunneling apps i had tried before. you can now use skype, ym and any other apps that needs internet connetion. download speed is good too, just use IDM.

the only cons about this is, the advertisement, anyway, i suggest you just us an ad-block plugin for your browser. it is using a US IP, i dont know if that is a cons for you. hehe. take note that it DC every four hours, not sure but i just experienced getting disconnected after having straight four hours of surfing. anyway, just reconnect and your good to go again.

Don't know if anyone is interested, but just came across one called "realvpn" (

www.real-vpn.com

) that is allowing free sign-ups for their beta program. I don't have a clue as to whether or not the service is any good or not, but might be worth a try and the price is right :)

Any of the more experienced 'vpn-ers' here know if it will cause a problem to have more than one of these services installed on your machine at the same time? Just installed cyberghost, and not sure if I should go ahead and install realvpn at the same time, or if it will drive my network settings nuts.

What you mean Polgasa. I am using it now it works brilliantly.

If you mean can not connect to server try to use UDP connection some TCP connection hard to work with it.

Also there are some side you need to register first to order to connect to server
