Ever have to spend time and system resources opening PSD Files, when organizing and managing your File Repository? Ever wish that Windows Explorer had a Preview or Thumbnail handler for these files?

Solutions exist. The following attachment; when installed properly, will allow you to now preview these files for quick and easy access and aid in your efficiency when managing a project.

I found this across two sites when looking earlier and found three.. One was too complicated and required Visual Studio 8 to be fully installed, and the other did not work in Windows 7.. This one is tested on a 32 Bit system.. and works perfectly..

Full instructions are included in the ReadMe file.. but are as follows:

  • Extract psicon.dll to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Shell\... If the directory does not exist then create it.

  • Double-Click the .Reg file to register the DLL into the registry.

  • Restart your system or log-off, then back on..IMMEDIATELY.. ( Explorer may crash if you try to browse. )

  • Enjoy the new + :D

Nice to hear. :)

But where to paste it if in 64bit OS? You know, 64bit has two program files folder.

You know, I don't know... Good question.. you could try each one.. BUT I would go with the one indicated directly.. the registry only shows the one location so registering it will only be for that one.. But like I mentioned above.. this was done on a 32 Bit system.. I seen other reports of the more complicated one.. working on 64 Bit.. but I really don't know about it because I don't have some of the program requirements.. The only thing that bothers me is that the thumbnails only go so big.. BUT you have no idea what kind of time and effort this has saved me.. Just installing it last night..

I'll let this one go. Well, the explorer.exe used in 64bit is 64bit one. So I think using this may not have a good effect if it's aimed at 32bit. :)

I really.. I don't know.. wish I did... To me.. the only difference would be that it would use a 32Bit width versus 64Bit.. and would work.. But I am not completely sure if something else might effect it.. so..until someone can verify or test it.. :dunno:

Great find. :D

Yes it works perfectly, except one problem, it's not free as it looks. I has a watermark and says evaluation copy that will expire in 30 days. Tell me if you can find a serial.

Yeah that was my edit.. above.. One page said it was free and donation-ware ( old ) and then the next at the site after you get way down past the download says Single-user License: $000 w/e.. sorry.. I will look though...

No problems. I think our coders can make a keygen out of it, but don't wanna trouble them and using freeware is always better. :)

BTW, it became full version from v2.xx. But I'm not fond of old versions. Didn't find any medicine.

Yeah me either.. seems they have this one cornered as far as Commercial usage is concerned.. Supposedly XnView will do this.. but not for sure about if it allows for Thumbnails.. but has a flyout preview on the Context Menu..
