ESET Fixes

Recommended Posts

I will remember eventually what I did to fix mine.. :P I know it was something seemingly unrelated in Outlook though when it happened.. Might do some searches around worded in different ways to see if anyone else has had the issue..

Ok need a favour guys...

Can a couple of people test this and check that the 'no licence' text is now showing oem license (or whater the equivilent in your langauge is)

It is fine to re-run this version over the top of the last beta.

Also please please please do not share the beta versions around - I am finding the current beta floating around on various forums (one username keeps popping up  ), and it is very frustrating as there are no 'fail safes' in the betas (it is just to test the core elements of the fix before i add the fail safes and extra install options) and a novice user could easily screw things up.

EAV - Final

Clean Install + Enable Fix (Thanks to PurplebeanZ)

Windows XP (SP3) (All Updates)

It did show the "No license" untill an update was done, now it shows a trial license.

I'm going to re-run the fix and see if the "no license" is there.

re-running the fix tells me thats its already enabled (who cares lol) i still clicked enable again.

after re-clicking enable and loading up to the desktop

No License - is back showing within the Nod dashboard.

(will wait till theres another update to see weather it resets back to a trial date)

Windows Vista Ultimate (SP2) (All Updates)

this works fine & still shows No License after an update.

Edit1

The Above is with the beta with no OEM TAG.

Edit2

Latest Version Tested

Vista Ultimate x32 (SP2) (OEM TAG = Showing) (31/12/2015)

Windows (XP SP3) (OEM TAG = Showing) (31/12/2015)

I have been using the mara fix for the previous version of ESET and I just read in these forums that using mara fix or Purefix 1.52 could leave ESET unstable, what do you mean by 'unstable'? Would it just be minor things, or is using mara fix not worth the risk?

Thanks.

I can't comment on mara fix, but PureFix 1.52 can potentially damage the egui.exe file by patching things it shouldn't (as it was written for v4) and also there are some minor differences in the registry mods for ESET v5

great, thanks :)

Ok, I've got enough feedback now - thanks guys :)

There will be no more betas now - just the final (i will release in the next couple of days - depends on my workload)

Just One question it says if u want to disable this fix click on Disable but there's no such option it only has Enable both in safe mode and normal mode?

no need to disable as there is no locking of reg keys like in v4 :)

there will be a disable option in the final release, but for v5 it will just revert some reg entries.

so how come I can't change HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ESET\ESET Security\CurrentVersion\Plugins\01000400\Settings\FailSafeServer?

I have already tdisabled HIPS and Self-defance & restart the computer.

I have noticed that on v5 we can't edit the Update server via the UI settings.

alsi I have an idea, why not edit the uninstall ("C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET NOD32 Antivirus\callmsi.exe" /i {6FB650FD-E94A-47A3-A36C-81DD824194FC}) and call it to your uninstall file (which need to be codded haha) and it will remove the blocking on the registry and then call eset uninstaller.

so user will not need to run your fix and click disable to uninstall eset program.

same problem i reported before web scan cannot block pages after apply this fix!! please fix this problem

it works fine for me and everyone else.

i'm afraid i can't fix a problem that i can't re-create :(

so how come I can't change HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ESET\ESET Security\CurrentVersion\Plugins\01000400\Settings\FailSafeServer?

I have already tdisabled HIPS and Self-defance & restart the computer.

no idea, purefix does not lock any registry entries on v5

I have noticed that on v5 we can't edit the Update server via the UI settings.

yeah, i found the same thing. i tried with purefix, trial license, and legit license and it wasn't possible in any of them

BALTAGY

open Eset > cllick F5 > "Web and Email" > Protocol filtering

make sure both "Integrate into system" and "Enable appilication protocol filtering" are checked.

also go to the "Excluded appilication" and try to remove "iexplorer" or re add it to view.

now see if you the web blocking, if you want to disable it then just uncheck "Integrate into system" and "Enable appilication protocol filtering".
