Yet to understand that Metro design standard (in looks) though. What exactly makes it metro look etc... But this looks something that I haven't see before. ;)

Well you have to remember three styles look this way or similar and have evolved..

Zune..Metro.. and Windows Phone.. Metro is commonly referred to as the Windows Phone style... and require a Font called Segoe WP which has a 'Light' version of the font similar to having bold so on.. The thing is what the font has to be emulated correctly on a HD screen for it to not start to knock out pixels.. this can also be effected by the rendering engine for the fonts.. GD++ cool program to play with ) but.. each one has different general placement of color tags.. capitalization, formatting of headers, titles, border styles.. text .. color palettes.. but its still looks good if you mix a few things and differ a little.. It also is a point to use one word descriptors as well.. especially in navigation, but its not really a necessity.. Double-Spacing of the individual characters can come into play and is usually done with code/CSS... Some of these aspects did however come directly from Windows Seven nd this generation of OS and programs..

I designed a family members website using this general idea... still have a few things I would like to alter a little working out small things.. turned out nice...

The banner could also go Zune Style quite easily and adapting the Metro Style a little like inversion and palette change.. almost but not quite.. it can thrown in the direction of the Windows Phone .. few other things as well as color blocks.. I also integrated a line texture which you find in a lot of places to help with a flat appearance.. which is not normally there.. If you do some looking around you get the general idea though.. easy to span them without trying..

Have you seen the new IPB style yet (3.2.0)? Maybe you could make a banner which fits in with the new style for nsane.forums, it would be cool to have it up there :D

Okay so I went to the forum for a bit..should feel like a pornstar with as many screen shots as I took... ( Camera's ready .. prepare to flash... ) So I have a general idea of the color palette .. blue, green, and purple used.. should be able to get a range of colors for it.. as well as the other elements.. looks like a new logo size and few more elements... took shots of the overlays.. windows.. buttons.. everything... even the new editor..

ANYWAY.. point being.. what all would you like? ..exactly.. and will that exact skin be implemented? ( I actually really like it.. :) .. and the new stuff too.. ) .. thinking the two last banners I added will look nice.. LOL but yeah .. let me know.. I will start on it soon.. and when would you like it by or around.. ( yes I am being serious.. LOL )

We will definitely be using the skin, I don't know whether it will be default (we might still keep CleanCut as default, I don't know).

Looks good to me. Just that I think there is no need for grey border, would probably look proper without it. :)

Yeah I was trying to match the new IPB skin overlay look... the gradient that is very slight.. transparent border and shadow was added for that purpose.. Next step is to finish one off in the actual skin format colors.. for the new 320 version.. Playing around though.. Have several ideas spawned by new features.. :evil: ...

Was worried about the border though.. like you said it looks grey.. but if you put it over something you see that it is actually transparent much like Aero would be.. Used as a signature there will not be much behind it not will it be popping up like the windows which inspired it... ( Glad I have plenty of time to play around with this though... )

Oh AND I have to figure out how to work in the tiny little embossing around the edges... details.. LOL ad I have created NF and ND buttons t swap out with the go button.. but those are still at work..

I took some screen shots.. but I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise.. also a couple.. some really nice skins @Skinbox.. I was noticing.. The next few banners may be a thrown spoiler however.. LOL.. After shought asked me to check it out.. it was like three days before it became available.. and I had just a few hours to check it out.. then the next day I went back to get all of the color information with the Web Developer Extension.. and it says what it does now.. I just barely did get in there.. for the Preview... Some very cool stuff coming.. :thumbsup:

Did read about some of the many new features/enhancements, but seen nothing about the skins. :P

I think the skins are still up.. I have no idea how I got there but I remember Skinbox..( except the IPB Skin isn't - Made you look though.. :P ) Added two more colors with the two replacement icon/emblems.. for example.. ( It's not pink ...before you say it.. LOL.. its purple.. before anyone says a thing.. ) and its used in the new skin as well.. stayed within a color palette... have yellow, a red, blue.. still working out black.. with spin offs on some of it but I would like to move generally in another design aspect.. except within this skin this appearance works well.. a little more modern..I tried using some of the old fonts and its not fitting what I am going for..

Font's well, I find it really hard to chose one correctly, but you've selected the basic one and it looks good.

In keeping with a more sophisticated muted look,

I have gone with a dark textured background, I "borrowed" the logo

simply because I like the look.

Any opinions on this first attempt are welcome. :P

Actually if I do he will be disproportionate to the other character.. who's hat takes up more height.. I did want to outline the eyes on Stan though.. its the only difference between him and the rest of them... Will see what I can do when I get a chance...

Just updated Post #165. It now includes all color versions of nsane.down.banner.WP... PSD will be available when I get something figured out first.. may actually take three this round.. Versions for nsane.forums.banner.WP will also be included in these, as well as the alternate version of the 'Metro' or WP Icons.. Other version are on the way as well as new IPB 3.2.0 inspired...

I am going to carry these on to this page as well, +1 for the work.

I like the metro look and feel. I must agree about the grey border, I think you could lose that.

The shadow under the design works very well, I think it will still stand out even with out the grey.

Yeah the original PSD I have made actually contains just the inner area of the banner.. Then I open the PSD with Fw and save as PNG .. then the second PSD I have that will save as PNG.. adds the extra area for the shadow ( is larger ) where you drop in the PNG and add the shadow and the border ( which is actually and outer glow )... So everyone should have the ability to configure as they wish and play as they may.. I just couldn't see uploading 8 versions per site( thats x2 ), per shadow, per border, and per Icon relative ( x2 again - which would actually be to the second power I think ) AND yo also have the option of adding the marble, barcode and other accents.. WAY Upwards of 60 different banners..( where I quit counting lost track and said no way.. ) just from one design.. LOL.. I should have the PSD's up soon... and a Zip file with just the PNG without shadow and border ( those are already made.. )
