D1v1n3D
I miss the alternative drivers back in the day made by better programmers then Nvidia and AMD Omega and I cant remember the other one, now they hired on Omega for short period on the RED team but Omega is now dead for AMD Crimson is better anyways but would be nice to test custom drivers like I use to be able to. I noticed that in new graphic driver packages the most part of it is the display driver, the rest including Radeon settings software or Nvidia's control panel are not that useful as there are other programs like MSI after burner to control the GPU. hardcore overclockers usually don't install them in the first place or exit the program completely when playing games because of their interference with third-party programs. yeah few years ago it was really great that we could mod the drivers, you can do the same thing with new ones too but instead of modding in software level you need to mod the VGA bios on hardware level, it's more effective and the only limitations would be your cards TDP

NVIDIA is bundling even more crapware with their drivers? I remember the days of Win2K and XP where driver package was under 20 MB. Now there is just a whole bunch of junk we don't want or need... 785+ MB plus for a graphics driver LOL WUT

Administrator DKT27 Posted April 5, 2016 Administrator Share Posted April 5, 2016 The problem I am having in the drivers is the screen seems to be tearing while scrolling fast. That's it. On latest OS with all the updates installed. Also, nVidia drivers installed on Express by mistake. Having said, this time I thought that they wont make the same mistake again, but I guess nVidia did. Also, why blame Vulkan, it's the next gen API for graphics, unless I'm missing something here.
D1v1n3D
you're not missing anything Vulkan is the future of graphics and VR everyone is talking about implementing it. so only a matter of time before dx is no longer used.

I wouldn't be so sure about that, did Mantle replace Directx after few years? nope
D1v1n3D
yeah but it was only implemented by AMD Everyone is implementing Vulkan Linux Windows even talks with Apple, Nvidia and AMD along with a lot of medical applications and so forth have you seen the list it's huge mantle was the start of Vulkan there was no push to other hardware and software like Vulkan has been they are two different walks of life Vulkan is true open source amd mantle was proprietary to AMD. microsoft is starting to loose footing in every aspect look at the console wars ps3 won ps4 is dominating they are not DX api and ps4 2.0 may have vulkan implemented. Yeah PS is the winners against Xbox because they're more powerful with AMD hardware and give users more FPS in games. but the thing is both Vulkan and Manlte are low overhead apis so its not so different and only the time can tell which one is more powerful as game developers decide which one to use. I'd be very happy to see all OSes using the same thing so that we could play cross-platform.
D1v1n3D
This is funny because this guy is actually Filipino speaking Tagalog but the closed captioning is funny. My fiancee is Filipino so she told me what he was really saying.
Administrator DKT27 Posted April 6, 2016 Administrator Share Posted April 6, 2016 I was not sure whether Vulkan was open source or not, but come to think of it, what is based on, it's going to be open source for sure. Thing is, there are hardly any games that I have played on which is based on DirectX's rival. Famous truck simulators remind me of it. There too, I thought the DirectX offered better brightness / contrast / colors than it's rival. I think the big selling point of Vulkan is going to be it's support for Windows 7. Which the latest DirectX does not do. Having said, a lot of gamers are upgrading, atleast Steam says so.
