Having revealed the upcoming Windows 10 Anniversary Update, Microsoft is planning a few UI changes with this update. During a session today, at Build 2016, Microsoft showed a possible change to the current All-Apps list on the Start Screen and Start Menu of Windows 10.

Using Sway, Microsoft’s Peter Skillman, Brian Uphoff, Eric Papamarcos, and Jen Gentleman discussed feedback and design changes to the Start Menu and Start Screen, to better tailor them for consistent experiences across devices and ease of use. To help with using the all-apps list on the Start Menu, here is what the team had to say:

The All apps list is essential to understanding which apps you have on your device. We’ve elevated this list to the top level of the UI to reduce clicking & scrolling. This makes it easier to access apps in the All Apps list. It also reinforces the consistent Start experience across form factors

Though the changes are subtle, users can notice the Power, Settings and Account buttons have been moved the a side panel of the Start Menu. Another change is the removal of the “All Apps” button, replaced with a list of the “Most Used” apps and an alphabetical order of your installed apps. These changes are designed in hopes of creating a more efficient way of searching for users apps and to reduce unnecessary actions (clicking and scrolling) to get to your apps.

For users of devices that take advantage of Windows 10 “Tablet Mode,” the Anniversary Update could potentially utilize a design similar to Windows 8.1. Many users of Windows 8.1 have expressed the Start Screen of the older Windows OS to function better for tablet devices (myself included). Microsoft has taken this feedback and applied it to a proposed update to the Windows 10 Start Screen, closely resembling the design from Windows 8.1, which the team had this to say about:

Quote

This view is predominantly designed for tablet. We’ve heard from Insiders that they feel Windows 8.1 start screen delivered a better tablet experience than what we have in Windows 10 today. We are addressing that and are looking to make the All apps list more usable in two ways:

Users will notice that this new Start Menu removes the All-Apps list, similar to the Start Menu design, and replaces it with a more consistent full-screen list of apps installed. The top group consists of “Most Used” apps, followed by an alphabetical order of users installed apps which closely resembles what Windows 8.1 offered. This view will only be available to users when in “Tablet Mode” on Windows 10.

As we move closer to the release of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, many UI changes and adjustments can still take place. In the meantime, users can leave their feedback on these proposed changes at this page.

Left feedback, and tore em a new asshole about explorer window changes and the settings menu. These start menu changes are useless. Windows XP, Vista, 7, Start8, StartisBack, Classic Shell are all faster to navigate the start menu then W10 start menu, especially all apps.

Grouped on their own with giant icons, really? I need that crap, its so annoying. Thank god for 3rd party add-ons.

Every since a update for window 95 they knew  how to make a start menus , Steve Ballmer took it away in windows 8.1  and here it is 7 months  in on Windows 10 prior to year of beta testing  and still Satya Nadella has not figured  out how to make one yet ,  that's why people on windows 10  need  a 3rd party one still . I'm surprised that didn't mess up DX12  the only other logical reason  to use windows 10.

They add stuff like Ubuntu for developers , Windows 10 store for XBOX  and update there spyware programs and call it redstone update 1 stuff that will never be useful to 90% of PC users .

Next redstone update 2 will even be more interesting they will give you Windows 10 Continuum for those phones  no one ever buys .  They done ran out of anything new  to do to too Windows  pcs  any good because  after windows 7 it was nothing much left too do, but over do them with crap and screw  them up . :)

Microsoft cannot deal with innovation...:drunk:

Microshit can't innovate SHIT, that's the problem which what they don't understand. Balmer f**ked that up and so it Satya, both stupid morons. No wonder more then 60% of the world is still using W7. I don't give a shit what those phony W10 stats say.

Windows phone = dead, Windows Surface/Tablet = dead, all useless. Making the best PC O/S for desktops cater to touch b/s = dead and stupid. People that use a Windows 7 PC like the way it works and functions and they don't need changes because 99% of people that have a Win 7 PC, are using either an iPhone or iPad, or Android Tablet or Android Smartphone (Samsung), and Play Store and iTunes have already dominated and destroyed the market.

Just like Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Opera all piss on IE and EDGE (which is useless yet again). Who wants IE 12? And you try to explain that to W10 fanboys and fags at 10 forums and all they can do is ban you for stating the truth. Really? Give me a freaking break man.

W10 could have been like W7, just add tweaks like, add the ribbon, tabbed file explorer, DX12, thats it. Little under the hood tweaks and people would be happy.

No need for spyware, bloatware, Windows Store bullshit (spyware & crap). Telemetry, changing the UI to cater to stupid TABLETS that NO ONE WANTS.

I have a $150 ANDROID tablet and smartphone. Why the f**k would I want W10 store or W10 settings and garbage interface? Please explain that to me, Satya you f**king stupid moronic prick. Under the hood changes are alright. No need to re-write the entire f**king thing and make it useless. That why they are scared.

Guaranteed Winblows 10 would be sitting at 2% if someone made a DX12 patch for W7, lol. Let them rot those morons. Idiots don't realize the more you FORCE SOMETHING ON SOMEONE, THE MORE THEY WILL RESIST.
