Responsibilities and DutiesThe Forum Administrator should:• Operate the forum as required by the Management Committee of .• Allocate board and other permissions consistent with the users’ role(s) within• Perform maintenance on the forum using the administrative tools provided to ensure its smooth running. This includes running error checking tools, reindexing and emptying out error logs• Backup the forum on a regular basis (weekly).• Check the status and actions of guests on line using the ‘Who’s online” tool and take appropriate action to ban IP addresses and ranges of addresses where guests are continually pinging the Forum.• Advise members on the correct and most efficient way to engage on the Forum including the production of ‘how to’ documents.• Respond to member’s reasonable queries and requests in a timely manner.• Undertake any other duties as may be allocated by the committee from time to time.• If a member of the Management Committee, undertake the role of Forum Moderator. Knowledge and Skills RequiredIdeally the Committee Member is someone who is:• Able to keep a cool head under pressure• Able to work in a logical orderly manner• Think through the effects of changes BEFORE making them, and ALWAYSensuring there is a recent backup available.• An understating of the way web file systems operate• An understanding of IP addresses• A thorough understanding of the operation of SMF (the forum software)especially:o Permissionso Downloading and installing ‘packages’• Able to liaise with VentraIP, our Internet Service Provider to concisely and precisely explain problems when they arise. Estimated Time Commitment RequiredThe estimated time commitment is variable but at least 2~3 hours per week. Most of this is done inside normal logging on so is not an extra time impost.
