As a learning curve I am interested in your problem with greyed phone activation. If you have a corrupt file even online activation would not work Before you come back as you said take some time to try this.

Uninstall, Run the sfc /scannow as admin as advised earlier, then run windows update and

Then MGAdiag current version from MS this might not be necessary but is good to clarify Licensed Windows 8 (you activated with phone anyway) if it is race condition which might be due to Antivirus or malware.

Now with internet off, install office 2013 with instructions from first page remove the grace key (unpkey:*****) and insert (inpkey: *****) a working valid key from Pastebin (credit November_Rain).

Now open any Office application to activate and chose phone activation

I GIVE UP. I DIDN'T SUCCEED. I uninstall the office with microsoft tool. I manually clean the registry. I install another version of office VL. and nothing. The activation by phone remains gray and I can't activate it.

P.S. I have win8.1 x64 activated by phone.

You must have been doing something wrong with your Office 2013 did you try going back to the date you install Office 2013 with System Restore.

Did you download the Office from here or somewhere!

I have it before win8.1 preview. Maybe is because of that. I'm waiting for the final version to download from windows store and I will try again than.

Did you install any trial or pre install OEM version Office 2013 in your PC. i would suggest uninstall the Office you are using right now and download and install Office from this topic all download link below:

For VL Edition and Activating MAK Keys - i would suggest use this edition for many reason:

Microsoft Office 2013 Pro DVD (English) RTM Original MSDN & Volume License (CSVLK) Magnet Download Links >>>

Office 2013 Pro Single Language Pack DVD [X86 / X64]

Retail Edition activate with retail keys:

[Digital River] Download Office 2013 Disk Images and Language Packs >>>

Also use Official MS uninstall utilities:

Uninstall Microsoft Office 2013 or Office 365

Finally: If you are using one of the Office above then i can think you still have some keys belongs to the that Trial or OEM Edition in your system that you need to delete that key first. SEE first page under one of the spoiler tag there is instruction about how to delete Office 2013 key using command prompt. !

There is no Office Project & Visio Pro Retail keys but we have Mak Keys for VL Edition use Microsoft Toolkit download link and instruction posted there >>> convert Retail or MSDN Edition to VL and activate with MAK Keys or ....................

Completely Uninstalling Office 2013

Be sure no programms related to your office installations are present in Programms in the Control Panel.

- Use the two Microsoft Fix-it, one for 2010 and for 2013 : 

For Office 2013 Official Uninstall Toolhttp://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9815935For Office 2010 Official Uninstall Toolhttp://download.microsoft.com/download/2/1/8/218C926D-9400-43D6-9E81-E236AD9ED2A5/MicrosoftFixit50450.msi
Manually Delete those registry entry

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office
Run them and Restart computer.

If you already used KMS Activator such as Microsoft Toolkit you may need to delete them too.......

Usually every different KMS Activator has got uninstall setting or bar somewhere within application use and delete.

-Uninstall all MTK versions

Restart and go to C:\Windows\AutoKms if you found it delete the AutoKms Directory, then scroll down in the Windows directory just for check if you don't have the files KMSEmulator.exe, if yes delete it. After check in the windows task scheduler if no Autokms task is there, if yes delete the task.

- Install and Run Ccleaner latest version (clean files and registry)
