best config for PerfectDisk ?

The choices are quite restrictive, I miss the big names. :mellow:

currently im using auslogics pro. pd12.5 is my overall fav but i HATE having extras running in the backround and it has a lot i dont use like the real time defrag i prefer to do it myself. i do believe it has the best overall defrag though and HANDS down has the best boot time defrag. it sometimes also doesnt play nice with eset ess which i use. sometimes est gets stuck scanning the perfectdisk sql file.

That will mess up your system. As Diskeeper does optimize the files by moving them to places required. If you use UD manually, it will move the files it's own way. In the end, Diskeeper will have problems, not visible from frontend, but from back.

i don't like the optiwrite and it can damage the hard disk though you got better performance but will cause your hard disk for error!

Vopt has never done me wrong. Love the ability to defrag the pagefile. It may not be the absolute best but it works for me.

I think Raxco, O&O and other such defragmenters are a bit bloated and the extra "features" and "tuning" they provide are not really necessary. Your computer can only operate so fast and this is determined mostly by your hardware, not how good your defrag program works.

I'll like to mention some points. :)

First, PD, DK and UD all can defrag the page file, just saying.

Second, the slowest part of your computer is HDD. This is when the featureful defrags come in play. What normal defrags do, they take a file, defrag in any place of the disk they find free, that means, one file from a folder is on outer side of the drive and one file from that same folder is on inner side. What this does? It makes it harder for the HDD to read the files, making it slow. The difference in this case is as much as a fragmented file. What those disk optimizers do is arrange the files accordingly. Some arrange by folder and some by usage, in the end, they are arranged mostly next to the files they belong to. Which means, it's easier for the disk to read the files hence speeding things up and increasing the HDD life. ^_^

I think he/she must be referring to the reg key anuraag posted some time ago which probably converted the Pro Home version to Pro Business.

Oh, thanks for letting me know. Thought you had some sort of unlimited key that i didn't know about.

Personally, i like the zero filling in the Server edition. It seems to have more features according to the official comparison on the company's website. check it out.
