spootnack
Adblockers will be the death of free websites. I was expecting what someone responds with "There is AdBlocker ..." But does AdBlocker work with others softwares than FF ? (IE, Chrome, Iron, WLM...) ++
Administrator Lite Posted October 10, 2010 Administrator Share Posted October 10, 2010 I think you didn't read my post correctly ;) . Adblockers is a general term for that class of applications.
sanjoa
Adblockers are useful for users that have a slow internet connection speed. Personally, I hate ads.

shought
Stay cool guys... All members who are active on the forums deserve what we offer on the frontpage, and beyond. This is mainly about the people who are just 'leeching' our site (which is perfectly fine with us, we wouldn't be here without them). We would like to ask them to view our ads, in order to contribute.nsane is not 'going down' because of anything, should a situation like this ever occur then we'd let you know ;)
HX1
Yeah.. you know.. there is an upside and a help with ads.. BUT I do side with most on AdBlocking.. Example: A co-contractor goes to his main PC in front of me one day to load the radar.. it takes him.. 45 seconds .. just to load the first page... Why? I watched as the browser sat there waiting for a response from a ton of on the page ads.. which left about 20% for actual content.. then watched as flash AND script based boxes and flying ads floated across the screen with two pop-up.. flashitty flashitty...( which are sort of like the flying ones.. ) He moves his mouse.. ( AND Don't forget about.. bluh blah ) and a third pops up right under the mouse.. which he has to cancel and close to move on.. NO JOKE... I literally had enough time to stand back up .. cross my arms wait and ask him what browser he was using.. and if he had ever tried changing anything on the PC to help with it.. and have him respond and me ask him what site he uses for radar and weather.. AND get another response in full.. before we look and wait again... THAT right there, is why we hate ads.. and block various sites and things from coming in... Cookies.. Data Tacking.. Analysis.. stuff they wish you would keep in your system forever all coming in at once.....all from servers which are overloaded to get more bang for the buck.. and the money hungry/desperate.. Literally its like your in Vegas or NY with all of the flashing and sell, sell , sell.. buy, buy, buy...click, click, click.. Then the occasional booty-plop on your screen to go here for free porn.. and naughty bits... :o :lmao: ..all of which can lead to damaging results for the end user and crap all over... ( and yes the booty is in lights as well ).. Now Nsane.. is not that bad.. really.. a few ads placed in appropriate places is fine and as long as they are not obtrusive and are what they say.. ads.. but who is to control there basis and server from which they are from?.. So we have the Admin to thank for that.. My thing is I get so used to the sites looking so clean and efficient and easy to navigate... even my MySpaz page depends on AdBlocking to be engaged.. to appear as I intended.. ( grumble - Though it has been better that it used to be ).. I think some places do go WAAAAAYYY too far with it.. not to mention the end point malicious intent of a few.. its sad really... :( Edited October 12, 2010 by heath28m
Administrator DKT27 Posted October 12, 2010 Administrator Share Posted October 12, 2010 Google ads has the highest shares of ads all around the internet. Atleast half of them placed at a non-problematic place on the page. The ads would be hardly few KBs in size that may not harm your page load at all. Those who have 10MB/s of connection, ever tried seeing if your favorite site has any annoying ads or is having a hard time keeping it alive? ;)Again, ads would be bad (come and watch sports in Indian TVs and you'll know the meaning), but blocking them all without caring that why it's placed there at the first place isn't right. :)

sanjoa
So you would be happy to have to pay to access some websites? No. That was a thinking of mine. It is sometimes you got sites that are 80% ads, that's awful. so your happy if nsane is downed because of you........? nsanedown is a free website and needs adds to stand my man!!! You ki*** my a*** . I have ads enabled for NSANE.DOWN and NSANE.FORUMS. Edited October 12, 2010 by José Matías Lemos

Administrator Lite Posted October 12, 2010 Administrator Share Posted October 12, 2010 My post was a general statement about ALL websites, not specifically this one. Lets not make it into something specific. The point was; a request for Ad Muncher to be listed; i gave the reasoning behind why we probably wouldn't list it. That is all.Feel free to make new suggestions; however for this moment this discussion is closed.

SacredCultivator
I believe I requested this in the past, but thought to throw it out again. I'd like to suggest for Digsby to be listed alongside MirandaIM and PidgenIM. I have tried both Miranda/Pidgen but they just lacked a nice UI and discovered Digsby which works well and has a nice interface. There may be some issues with the program, but it's promising. ^_^
