Several days ago, Rufus developer released version 3.20 beta with several notable changes and new features. Following a brief testing period, Rufus 3.20 stable is now available to download from GitHub and the app's official website.
 
Rufus 3.20 introduces new capabilities that help users create Windows 11 installation media with fewer annoyances. In addition to bypassing TPM, SecureBoot, and Microsoft Account requirements, version 3.20 adds the option for automatic account creation and the ability to copy regional settings from the current Windows installation.

A couple of weeks ago, Microsoft began flighting two separate of Windows 11 Preview builds for Insiders on the Beta channel for a staggered release. Today, the Redmond company has released an update with new builds 22621.440 and 22622.440. The company writes on its blog post:

Rufus, a popular third-party app for creating bootable media, has received yet another wonderful update. Version 3.20 BETA introduces the option to create a local offline account and copy regional settings from the current Windows installation. The only caveat here is that the account creation feature can only make a user with the same name as the current one and a blank password. After the first reboot, Windows will prompt you to change the password.

Microsoft released Windows 11 build 25158 to Insiders flighting the Windows 11 Dev Channel recently. The new build brings some interesting new features like various Search styles, and more widget options, as well as the usual general improvements and bug fixes.
 
However, with the addition of the new widget options, it looks like the weather reporting and reading has broken on the latest build. The issue was noticed first by Twitter user Xeno.

Microsoft ended support for its Windows 7 operating system in 2020. The company offers extended support to organizations and businesses, but not to Home customers.
 
Microsoft's initial plan was to limit extended support to three years after support end, but it appears that the company could extend support by another three years, making it six years in total.

(Reuters) -The U.S. Department of Justice is expected to file an antitrust lawsuit against Alphabet Inc's Google in weeks over its dominance in the online advertising market, Bloomberg News reported on Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.
 
The Justice Department is likely to reject concessions offered by Alphabet, the report said.

Microsoft is about to change its Windows update schedule once again. A new report from Windows Central has revealed Microsoft's plans to return to shipping new Windows versions every three years, like it was in the times of Windows Vista, 7, and 8. At the same time, Microsoft wants to create a constant flow of new features in-between "big" releases.

The new plan means Microsoft has scrapped a feature update codenamed Sun Valley 3, which Windows users expected to land somewhere in 2023. Instead, Microsoft wants to release a new Windows in 2024.

It's the second Tuesday of the month which means it's Patch Tuesday time again. As such, today Microsoft is rolling out the monthly security update (also called "B release") for July 2022 on Windows Server 20H2, and Windows 10 for the latest versions, 21H1, 21H2. The new updates are being distributed under KB5015807, bumping up the builds to 19042.1826, 19043.1826, and 19044.1826.

Microsoft has released Patch Tuesday updates for Windows 8.1 (KB5015874) and Windows 7 (KB5015861). They each come with a whole host of improvements and known issues with workarounds. It’s worth noting that support for Windows 8.1 will end in January, so Microsoft urges you to upgrade to a later edition of Windows. The Patch Tuesday update for Windows 7 requires you to have purchased the Extended Security Update (ESU) support.

We have reached yet another turning point in the circus that is Elon Musk's acquisition of Twitter. Back in April, the Tesla executive offered to purchase the company for roughly $44 billion after buying a 9.2% stake in the social media platform. After much back and forth, the deal was finally agreed upon by both parties as Musk began to hint at a series of changes he would be making to the platform after assuming control, including taking the company public, forcing governments to pay to use Twitter, and making money out of tweets that go viral.
 
However, the transaction was put on hold when Musk demanded proof that less than 5% of Twitter users are spam accounts and bots. Twitter shares began to tumble as it began to become evident that Musk does not plan to close the deal after all. Today, he has filed to officially terminate the deal.

Microsoft has released Windows 11 build 22621.169 (KB5014958) to Windows Insiders on the Release Preview Channel. The build brings improvements to the File Explorer in the form of Tabs as well as new navigation updates. It also fixes an issue with Tabs itself. You can find the full changelog below

Microsoft has released the optional KB5014666 Preview cumulative update for Windows 10 20H2, Windows 10 21H1, and Windows 10 21H2.
 
This update includes numerous bug fixes and new, unexpected printing features.
 
The KB5014666 cumulative update preview is part of Microsoft's June 2022 monthly "C" update, allowing admins to test fixes in the July 2022 Patch Tuesday.
