Mozilla has a minor update for Firefox 133.0, which was released by the end of last month with Bounce Tracking Protection and other changes. Version 133.0.3 is now available for everyone to download, but do not go in there looking for new features.

Microsoft has released Patch Tuesday updates for Windows 11 24H2, 23H2, and 22H2. The 24H2 update is provided via KB5048667, while the 23H2 and 22H2 update is delivered via KB5048685.

It's the second Tuesday of the month, which means it's Patch Tuesday time again. As such, today, Microsoft is rolling out the monthly security update (also called "B release") for December 2024 on Windows Server 20H2 and Windows 10 for the latest supported versions, 20H2, 21H2, and 22H2.

The Linux Mint team is testing the disc images of the upcoming version, which means it's not far away now. These will likely be Beta versions which will be released to the public for two weeks of testing before the Stable version is released.
 
Linux Mint 22.1, like preceding versions, will feature Cinnamon, MATE, and Xfce editions so that users have a decent amount of choice. The Cinnamon edition will get a notable upgrade this time around because it ships with the new Cinnamon 6.4.

As we close the year of patching, I’m surprised to see that our vendors are facing many of the same issues they faced years ago — governments looking over their actions.

Modern Windows versions still pack plenty of legacy code, and most of the time, Microsoft tries to hide old parts, such as the Control Panel, in favor of more modern (not necessarily better) components. However, there are some interesting exceptions.
 
In a newly published support document spotted by Deskmodder, Microsoft describes backup and restore options that are available to Windows 10 and 11 users. In addition to recently introduced tools, like the Windows Backup app, Microsoft oddly recommends "Backup and Restore (Windows 7)," which was introduced over 15 years ago as part of Windows 7.

Over three years ago, when Microsoft announced Windows 11, the operating system generated a lot of buzz. Not only because of its unconventional look but also because of its steep hardware requirements, which rendered a lot of still-capable systems unable to run Windows 11 officially. One of those requirements is TPM 2.0, and Microsoft is once again reminding everyone why that chip is so important.

Mozilla has been working on integrating tab groups in Firefox for quite some time. The organization confirmed in May that it was working on a set of features that would allow Firefox users to use features that other browsers, including Google Chrome, offered already.

As such, in the Firefox 134 beta 2 (spotted by Windows Report), the company has added a new installation menu that automatically selects Firefox as the default OS browser during its installation.
