Which one of these, do you think is better and why?

As firewall Kaspersky was allways better (http://www.matousec.com/projects/proactive-security-challenge/results.php)

When comes to antivirus question `which is better` it`s endless debate ...To choose well you have to try them on your computer and see which goes well for you . You should look at `av-comparatives` revues in the last months (performance and detection + false positives rates) .

Returning to your question I would choose also considering the impact on your computer (usually ess is lighter than kis) - so if you have a good configuration kis12.0.0.374 is the answer !

Its all down to personal preference. Matousec does crappy testing because with Full Internet Suites, They turn the anti-virus off and test the firewall as a standalone application basically. I used to be a KIS user, but later on started hating Kaspersky for being slow and many other things. So i've become an ESET user, quite happy. Passes the Stealth ports test and other things. i Believe the firewall is good too. But if your not too sure. Trial both, Its all down to personal pref. hope this helps...

Sorry for so many full stops haha, i kinda think in that way.

funny question and some funny answers....

there is no way to compare these 2 products,

only security suite u can compare with Kaspersky is Comodo, (if we are talking 'bout AV, Kaspersky AV is No.1 since 2005. )

don't be naive... ESET is ok, but Kaspersky && Comodo are security gigant's,

marketing and propaganda are one, real facts are something other!

The results in AV comparatives show that Kaspersky has not been the best all that time, just on one or two occasions. Eset more or less the same!!! :fight:

Besides you should take into account Eset 5.

I myself prefer ESET, although it's about 3-4 months that I have uninstalled all Real-time Protection softwares, they are all useless when your brain can prevent from being tainted by malwares.

But I have serious security equipment on my Firefox. ^_^

ESET

Kaspersky

@ns870152:

u shouldn't post something like that if u don't know Comodo's policy and way it work's and way to configure Comodo

and i am not gonna explain it to u! (....)

If u want good protection with comodo, u will not use default settings... at first start with Proactive Security and so on...

there was a time i used KIS 2008 it slows my system and it took hours to scan the system but ESET doing gr8 job for me for the last three years off course i am using ESET AV and diffrent firewalls (1 at a time) Kaspersky's firewall is better than ESET SS but i am looking forward to KAV 2012 and ESET v5 looks good to me but in all i would say every one has his own cons and pros only you can decide what is god for you

Now, ESS4 is better KIS2012, KIS2012 is slow, heavy, takes very long time to scan or disinfect, CPU >90%

For you. For me, it works fine&dandy, and it consumes less CPU/RAM than previous versions. All sorts of problems and performance issues have been fixed.

For me:

ESET SS4 : not infected

KIS2012 : not infected

ESET SS4 : lighter, faster

=> ESET SS4 : better

:D

IDLE with KIS2012

Glad to hear KIS has fixed performance issue. It was my favorite AV before it became resource hog. ^_^

screw all that, Firewall -> Comodo (free), Antivirus -> Malwarebytes (paid), and in case i need backup i have Avira (which is amazing) that i have set to NOT open upon startup since it uses memory (however the memory it uses is slim, but i run on 2gbs with a virtual computer on all the time so i need all i can get)

MBAM is not up to the mark when it comes to real time protection. It excels in on demand scanning, but not so great in catching virus/malware in real time.

Which is why i have avira. Also Malwarebytes has been able to catch several FUD's lately. They've gotten some pretty slick updates in their real-time methods.
