ESET Fixes

Removed version 4.x, downloaded and installed the latest. Followed instructions for Purefix V2B and all seems well. Updated immediately and all selected modules appear to work. It's doing an automatic update right now.

Looking good.

Thank you!

The Geek Squad

Hi Mara and purplebeanz..

Just works perfectly... on my XP Sp3 (32 bit) and Win 7 Ultimate (32 bit)

How ever only concern is with advanced setup - does not work at all for me.

Thanks

@jofre , or any body who could help ...

>>tried registry crawler .

it did find some Norton and Symantec entries .

on deletion it was able to delete just a few and not others .

manually deletion in regedit returned fatal errors as access denied .

>>tried the same in jv16 tools .

again , same result .

>>tried RegAssasin ,

failed ....

>>found a solution here , Microsoft Sys Internal Tools ..

ran the Regedit under system account with its help and was able to delete all the entries .

( point to be noted is that this is a very good and powerful tool for deleting stubborn and hard access denied registry entries . ! )

>>restarted the system ,

launched EAV installer and to my delight it did not report Norton as being there in my system any more ...

installation successful .!

>>restarted the system to check all is fine ,

but damn ......

it again got stuck .

system starts , boots , log ons , but the desktop fails to show up ...!!!!

all screen is grayed out .....

had to restore back under safe mode and its fine now ...!

just hard to figure out for me as to what is going on ...

any leads , helps , suggestions are welcome please .....

you can just uninstall eset v5 to remove the fix

but we should boot in safe mod and remove/disable fix then uninstall eset

what is the difference between trial and licence mod ? just time or functionality/updates as well ?

Thanks to PurplebeanZ...fix is working great.

Using EAV on W7 Ultimate x64.

Waiting for the final fix....

note: using Total Uninstall....I do not need to disable the existing fix prior installing the new EAV.

It also cleanly remove all registries...

F**K me ,

i m Famous ...!!!! B).....

after continuous brain storming and scratching for the last 8 hrs ,

check this please ----

Posted Image

got the bastard working ....!!! 8)........

it updates and yes i can log on to desk top too ..

no more hang ups ......

heres what worked .

>> restored the system .

>> went for a manual hunt of all the Norton related things . pretty neat search and destroy operation . Running Regedit under System Account with the Microsoft tools i mentioned in the previous helped a lot . The Norton keys were bloody welded to the system , disallowing any access to them . but this worked .

>> restarted .

>> Aggressive cleaning with JV16 , CCleaner ., and manual look for any folders or files pertaining to any thing which said SYM or NOR ...!

>> Restarted .

>> and this time i tried installing ESET AV via another limited user account .

>> and woops --- It Worked ...!!!! :)

@purplebeanz ,

did you just update the Fix ? , as now it shows the License details ....

cant see any on mine ....

PurplebeanZ

Your v2 fix does not work, I still at 6364 signature database using the final v5 av version, it simply does not update from the eval servers (I tried about 50 times to update manually yesterday and today)

I kniw how you fix work, v1.52 on eset v4 works like a charm.

maybe there is a problem with the failsafeserver http://update.eset.com/eset_eval/ - but it does not make sense that it did not update all day..
