PurpleBeanZ, I read there were some problems with NORTON, box is on it but maybe he can use some help... I'm currently using ESS5 and NIS2012 myself..

I tried to PM you but I got a message that I could not view member profiles, it's due the forum error now I guess...

Cheers mate.. :)

Mine is WinXP Pro SP3 ( x86 ) Eng.Version and PureFix 2.0 beta is working fine with ESS 5 Final ( Clean install ).

None issues found. Got the update of Virus databases ( about 35 MB )

Excellent work @PurpleBeanZ ! (+ 5)... :clap: :towel: :party: :party: :party: :party:

Thanks !

For the moment I am going to use also ( on another OS Backup ) a valid key found ( for 5 years ) that made ESET activated.

ok , i have run into a bump .....

during install , ESS installer recognizes Norton Internet Security on my computer and warns me of it .

this seemed strange and surprising to me , as NIS was installed on my pc 4 months back and i uninstalled it with Norton Removal Tool .

so i ignore the warning and let it install .

all went fine .

i restart the pc to see if all is fine and except for an increase in boot time ,

the desktop starts up fine ..

i reboot into safe mode to use the PureFix ,

applied and it reports success .

restarted ,

but now the screen got stuck at the log on screen with the message --- " Please wait for the user profile service .. " , for almost 10 minutes , until i force shut down the machine .

on restart , the time from log on to desktop is exceptionally long and even after that ,

the desktop is all grayed out .

no wallpapers , no explorer , no icons , nothing ....

all grey ..

nothing worked and again i had to force shut down it...

finally just now did a restore ,

and now all is fine again ....

any ideas ....????

before applying the Fix the pc was able to boot to desktop ,

but after the fix , it just failed ...!

could it be because ESS is detecting Norton ..

or is it some thing else ...

any head ups please ......

Soon, new TNOD User and Password Finder for ESET 5 will be posted here...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
@majithia23 :-
This is what you should have done :- Uninstall, clean Norton and install again ESET 5.
Have you heard of " Registry Crawler 4.5.0.4 " ?
Nothing in the fix would/could cause your PC not to boot
PS - the reason i stopped using norton years ago was because of the mess it makes of your system ;)
@jofre
naa as i say , Norton was uninstalled 4 months back with the official Norton removal Tool and i have been without an AV set up since then ....
never tried Registry Crawler App . any idea as to what it could help out in and a d/l link if possible please ...
@PurplebeanZ
yes i can figure that out . a fix can mean no harm ....
i always heard Norton is one s.o.b. to remove from a computer ,
guess now is the time to experience it ...!!
and the worst part is , i have checked for any file pertaining to Norton in my system , and found one or two and have deleted them ,
but still the Installer for Eset is picking it up ....
so i dint do a install ....
any idea how to scrub this Norton scum off would be appreciated .....
PurpleBeanZ
I accidentally clicked Enable before installing v5, and now it wont let me install. When the status bar says "Installing Drivers", it would then roll back the installation and present me with this screen:
post-34213-0-45128000-1315957542_thumb.p
This is also preventing me from installing v4. I've tried booting into safe mode and disabling PureFix, but still no luck.
Help!
Thanks!
@majithia23 :
Download Registry Crawler 4.5.0.4 and License from here :-
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Site ........ Mediafire.com/

Code .......................... ?y7vhgejpmn5vv4n

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just have to write "Symantec" ---» delete all Registry entries with the EXACT name.
Also write "Norton" and delete all Registry entries with this (Exact) name .
Purefix works well here, thanks PBeanz :dance2:
