If you remove that ad line from the host file, it will show those ads on all the websites that use those ads. So in other words, you cannot whitelist a site in host file ads blocking. I'm sure that DNTM would be having a whitelisting option, search for it. It's in my to-add list (for this thread). If DNTM doesn't have whitelisting option, then stop using it. Use Ghostery (comes for both Firefox and Chrome), it's excellent and offers a lot of options.

unknownasphyxiated
why should i allow blocked pop ups here???Everyone agrees: ads are annoying, right? You never actually click on them and they are of no interest to you at all. This is why having an Ad-blocker might be an good idea. However for many sites their only source of income is advertisements, and blocking them might affect the site's future (you don't want your favourite website to disappear do you?). Some sites even implement blocking mechanisms which won't let you view the site without viewing the ads, but that's not the way to go, if you ask us.There are sites which have pop-up ads, ads covering the whole page, pornographic ads or ads that won't go away without opening another window, in short: annoying ads. There are also sites which just have simple, innocent, text-based ads. Many of these sites would very much appreciate it if you would whitelist their domain and maybe even give them the odd click, in return they will be able to keep providing their service to you and other visitors. We are funded solely by unobtrusive ads, so please whitelist our domain in your AdBlocker.read first post

majithia23
Came across this new FF extension . Blue Hell Firewall https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/bluhell-firewall/Its a simple no nonsense approach towards Ads and Tracking blocking .Install and forget and enjoy .The author specifically made it light weight in counter response to the ABPs performance slowdown. And hence it features no user controls , which means no WhitelistsOn or Off ! Thats it ...But its a pretty good add on , that does work and there is no slow down in FF performance ! fleshtheworld
Hi, I disabled ghostry. How does the ads work for users and owners? Does a user click on an ad and then the owner gets paid? Or does a user need to do other things like completing the ad? Also how risky are ads for a user? Is it just advertisement or are there occasional backdoors, etc? Also, whitelisting enables tracking on nsaneforums.com, is it ok to disable trackers and still have the ads work?Lastly, I thought Norton is a bad antivirus so why is it being advertised? Do youy have no choice over the ads? Edited April 5, 2014 by fleshtheworld

Paquini
I did it, and my AV ESS found the adds are dangerous an with viruses. For caution I re-enabled AdBlock Plus, so when your adds to be trusty, I'll disable it again.
