C.G.B. Spender
Note: When you update your v7 to v8 with this it will pop up blank update dialog, which if you do not cancel it will download "update" to v7 and try to downgrade. Seems macrium itself pulled the files, Majorgeeks pointed to the same file and their link was dead too. Wonder why I tested backup and restore in vm it works as well/fast v7 did. Presumably with later v8 updates it'll get resolved, but I ain't clicking on the update while it's blank. Same stuff reported on MG too. Edited May 20, 2021 by C.G.B. yoorrik
Macrium does not prohibit the creation of MacriumRescue.iso based on any WinPE10 1607/1709/1809/1903/2004 Macrium officially used WinPE10-1607 for ver.7.0 -7.1 and WinPE10-1709 for ver.7.2-7.3 Macrium will probably also officially use WinPE10 1709 for version 8.0, although I have no exact information. From my practice: I have been using MacriumRescue 7.0.2098.iso based on WinPE10-1607 for several years to backup Windows 7x64 SP1 PRO (WD Gold hard drive). I didn't have any problems. Unfortunately, I could not make a backup with MacriumRescue 7.0.2098.iso for my new laptop HONOR PRO 16.1 (Windows 10x64 20H1 + SSD NVMe WD) I made a backup of my new laptop with MacriumRescue 7.3.5672.iso based on WinPE10-1709 and also with MacriumRescue 7.3.5672.iso based on WinPE10-2004 Edited May 21, 2021 by yoorrik maxlife and Pete 12
Pete 12
Ok , I see........so , it does not matter which PE-resque-CD you are using ( 1607,1709 , all fine) ? I downloaded a resque-ISO from one of this forum-members ( Redeploy activated !) , after burning/rebooting , it appeared to be a WinRE-1809 ! So , now I wonder if we can use a WinRE-CD on a PC without a RE( recovery) -partition.............or do you have to use a WinPE-CD in this case ?? Just try it... if you create an ISO WinRe on your computer it should boot. WinPE is more suitable if you want to boot multiple computers with one ISO (my experience). WinPE10-1607 and 1709 differ only in the network settings. From 1709 MS has changed something there
Pete 12
" if you create an ISO WinRe on your computer it should boot"...............not possible , I dont have a recovery-partition , so its always a WinPE-CD ! The network-setting dont matter for the backup/recovery , good ! , so it does not matter which PE-version you will use . I can use my Resque-CD on multiple PCs , other problem ; what about the drivers , when using PE-CD on older PC ??
GertG
@Pete12 WinPE comes with standard drivers and if you need something exotic you have to create a new ISO and add the drivers.

You cannot use someone else's MacriumRescue.iso if it is based on WinRE. Correct only on the basis of WinPE. 2. If you are using someone else's MacriumRescue.iso then you will have a "backup file creation time" error if this MacriumRescue.iso was created in a different time zone.
