Karlston
Intel wireless driver updates fix Windows 10 blue screen issues Intel has addressed Wi-Fi and Wireless Bluetooth drivers issues causing Windows 10 blue screen of death (BSOD) errors and Bluetooth devices to lose connection or stop working. Users are urged to install the updated Wi-Fi drivers (Intel PROSet/Wireless Software 22.30.0 ) and Wireless Bluetooth drivers (Intel Wireless Bluetooth 22.30.0) seeing that they also include security updates, besides functional updates. Fixed Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues The new Intel Wireless drivers address Windows 10 stop errors (also known as blue screens, Blue Screen of Death, or BSODs) and issues causing wireless adapters to fail to connect to 5GHz networks. "When a system is connected to an Access Point using channel 165 and the Windows 10 mobile hotspot feature is enabled sharing the 5GHz network, the mobile hotspot network is not visible to other systems under the wireless network scan list," Intel added. The new Intel Wireless Bluetooth drivers fix bugs behind Bluetooth devices causing audio noise during Hands-Free Profile (HFP) voice calls and discontinuity of audio during Teams calls. They also address bugs leading to Bluetooth LE mice no longer working on systems with outdated driver versions. The full list of supported products and driver versions released by Intel to fix these issues is available in the Wi-Fi and the Wireless Bluetooth drivers' release notes. Fixes for security issues affecting Intel products Intel also addressed 57 security vulnerabilities during the February 2021 Patch Tuesday, including high severity ones impacting Intel Graphics Drivers. Intel graphics driver vulnerabilities patched this month found in several Windows and Linux driver versions impact systems with Intel processor generations up to the 10th generation, codenamed Comet Lake. Additionally, Apple addressed arbitrary code execution vulnerabilities in Intel graphics drivers in early-February, and Microsoft released an emergency KB5001028 out-of-band update to fix a Windows 10 bug causing crashes when connecting to WPA3 Wi-Fi networks. Last month, Microsoft also issued a new batch of Intel microcode updates for addressing issues impacting Windows 10 20H2, 2004, 1909, and older versions. zanderthunder
Oddly enough, the Intel Driver & Support Assistant didn't detect my WiFi AX200 card (previously, it can detect and able to update through IDSA), so therefore I have to download the installer files and install both updates manually. Side note, the 22.30.0 update for both WiFi and Bluetooth cards are available via Windows Update, but they are listed under optional updates. aum
Blue Screen of Death begone (Image credit: Shutterstock) If your Windows 10 device has been crashing with the dreaded Blue Screen of Death error, or if you’ve been having trouble connecting to wireless networks or adding Bluetooth devices, then you should probably check out Intel’s latest wireless drivers, which appear to fix a lot of common problems. Available to download using Intel’s Driver & Support Assistant tool, if you have an Intel processor and use an integrated network card, there’s a good chance you rely on Intel’s drivers. While the update fixes issues with connecting to wireless networks (especially 5GHz ones), and adds some security fixes, the most noticeable improvement is a fix where some PCs were getting Blue Screen of Death errors. Getting a fix The update has been released for these wireless adapters: Version 22.30.0.111 for Wi-Fi 6E AX210, AX201, AX200, Wireless-AC 9560, 9461/ 9462 and 9260. Version 20.70.21.2 for Intel dual-band wireless-AC 8265 and 8260, Version 19.51.33.1 for dual-band wireless-AC 3165, 3168, and 7265 Family. If you have one of those, and have been experiencing problems, then it’s worth getting the update. To find what wireless adaptor you use, type in ‘Device Manager’ into the search box in the taskbar, and press ‘Enter’ on your keyboard. (Image credit: Future) In the window that appears, click on ‘Network adapters’. A list will appear of the adapters installed in your PC, and from there you should see an Intel adapter. If it matches one of the ones listed above, then you can install the driver. To do that, install the Intel Driver and Support Assistant tool (using the link above). Once installed, open the tool and check for updates. The tool should automatically find the latest update and install it. As well as fixing the Blue Screen of Death errors, the updated drivers corrects a problem where 5GHz wireless networks could drop connections. There was also an issue where using a Windows 10 mobile hotspot does not work correctly if the Access Point uses channel 165. As Windows Latest points out, audio issues when using Microsoft Teams for video and voice calls have also been addressed, along with Bluetooth mouse problems and driver security improvements.
