Karlston Posted September 1, 2020 Share Posted September 1, 2020 Fortnite to get ray tracing support and a dedicated RTX map to show off the visuals Nvidia held an event today where it unveiled its RTX 30 series GPUs and provided more information on the various tools and enhancements being made to its other software offerings. As part of the event, the company also announced that Epic Games’ battle royale Fortnite will be adding support for ray tracing, DLSS 2.0, and Nvidia Reflex – a software suite announced today that improves latency in games. The company added that Fortnite will be adding a custom RTX map will be added to Fortnite Chapter 2 – Season 4 bringing improved lighting, reflections, and lower latency to inputs thanks to Nvidia reflex. These improvements will also lead to improved visuals for dynamic content, shadows, and more. Additionally, DLSS will help improve frame rates as it leverages the Tensor Cores present in RTX cards to enhance AI-based rendering. The RTX Treasure Run that is accessible via Creative mode pits players in a scavenger hunt that the firm says “highlights the different ray-traced effects”, where players will have to collect treasures. There is no information on availability of the map, but the firm says that it is “coming soon”. Though the announcement was made as part of the RTX 30 series unveil, ray tracing support on Fortnite comes to all users playing the game on all RTX 20 and 30 series GPUs.
