It's working with VLC 3.0.0 x64 on these test systems Win 7, 8.1 x64. Backup or note the custom settings and then Try re-install with these installer selections -> full -> Delete Preferences & Cache selected -> Custom.

Just wanted to let you know that it now works on W10 x64 after uninstall deleting Preferences & Cache, then custom install.

I found this is not Final Stable version, this is just NIGHTLY FULLY BUGGY VERSION! Try the settings in Effects Filter, especially h264 MP4 media Crop function. It will stretch your video and after two three crops the screen will go to black!

Only 32Bit for the moment.

I did my test with 32-bit version. It is totally buggy version. No way for use. I stuck with 2.8.8 the best version!

3 years and you would think that they'd find time to add support for its Windows taskbar icon to show video progress, like every single other player (and plenty of other programs where that's useful), but no.

If anyone wants a portable version of VLC, download the 32 or 64-bit version, then unpack the .exe with 7-Zip and run vlc.exe to launch the app.

upload this two clips so " identical " can be confirmed

you can try use ffmpeg to set rotate flag on vertical video for 90° or 270° and then try append it to horizontal video.

example ffmpeg command:

ffmpeg -i vertical.mp4 -c copy -metadata:s:v:0 rotate=90 vertical-rotated.mp4

This version 3.0.0 release has been a complete cock-up from start to finish.

This command rotated my video to 180 degrees instead 90. Strange.

And it is again vertical, just rotated on 180, not inverted. :(

Hmm...very strange. I have version 2.2.6. Umbrella. But when I ask it to check for updates, it tells me that I have the latest version!

And who would ever trust the update option inside of the program?!?

I took them 3 years and there still 3 years behind other players on Windows  and Linux  10bit Hevc is still buggy and they still have no 12 bit support. other than i use it for streaming iptv sometimes witch is its  strong point if you  tweak it in settings i don't use it  at all. Just about any player out is better for  locally stored files .  Other players update  all the time  with new features that work fine while  it took them 3 years to try to get better 10 bit Hevc support and it's still buggy .. Its kind of sad since they was the 1st player that could play 8bit Hevc but still it's a CPU hog  so it's not even really good for this . It may be ok if you mostly watch  H264  and XVID  still  but when  you have other players that play everything  fine its not really worth launching  but for streaming IPTV  its hard to beat,  but older versions can do this good even lol .

So other then security bug fixes,  there  is no good reason to update and there is never a good reason to beta test because  stable versions always get patched .
