There’s a New Browser on Windows 10 And It’s Even Better than Microsoft’s Edge

UC Browser on Windows 10

UC Browser has long been one of the most popular browsers for mobile users, and the parent company decided to bring it on PCs too, with a dedicated version for Microsoft’s Windows 10 OS also planned.

Today, the Windows Store version of UC Browser launched for the PC, and despite that it’s called “UWP,” there’s no sibling for Windows phones, or at least not yet.

The Windows 10 version of UC Browser is exclusively available on PCs for the time being, but at first use, it turns out to be a better app than Microsoft’s own Edge.

UC Browser features

First and foremost, UC Browser comes on Windows 10 with a pretty clean and straightforward look, and the developing team says its interface was specifically optimized to be used with touch and with the traditional mouse and keyboard combination.

The minimalist look comes alongside a rich feature lineup that includes mouse gestures, which are fully customizable from the app’s settings screen and which you can see in detail in the photo gallery at the end of the article.

There’s also the so-called Omnibar, which is a more advanced version of the address bar that comes with extra options to type not only the URL, but also other words to perform an online search, look for bookmarks or entries in the browsing history.

Additionally, the browser supports an incognito mode with no traces left behind, and integrates a password manager and cloud sync for synchronizing bookmarks between your devices. There’s also voice search, a floating navigator, plus a tab stack to work easily with several tabs.

It goes without saying that the application is completely free and there are no ads, but it’s quite a shame that no mobile version has been developed so far. Of course, efforts to make it truly universal could bring the app on smartphones as well, so finger crossed for a Windows 10 Mobile flavor.

UC Browser is a version of Chrome; Chromium Kernel version 50.0.2661.102

Strangely, It can be installed on Windows XP though at some moment notifies it's no longer compatible with it.

Couldn't log in with it to nsane, tries to connect through https and can't. Connection is rejected for "my security"

Slimjet also based on Chromium still updates a special  version for xp but you need to use a user agent switcher and set it too the latest version of chrome to access gmail and things you sign into Google.

There is no difficulty to install it but it's not fully compatible. I'm using Firefox and I keep running the last compatible version of Google Chrome with Windows XP.

So, I won't be able to update again on windows XP... well actually, I'm not very happy with Firefox v52 but looks that I'll have to live with it till I have XP installed.

Zemana flags it as Chinese adware and malware.

Fully agree. This is an extremely dangerous malware that installs on your PC very strange things without asking from You any permission.

Good news! Since publishing this blog post, UC Browser got in touch with us and clarified that third-party publishers are responsible for these ads. We understand this is not just an Opera/UC issue but rather an app industry issue.

UC and Opera will work together to stop these kinds of malicious ads.

Here’s what Ben Jiang, from International Affairs at UC Browser, had to say:

“We recently noticed that some unscrupulous marketing publishers are using scareware to drive traffic to our apps.

This is against our policies. We strongly urge users to report such ad links to help protect the user experience.

We want to ensure a healthy development of the app industry, and to stop these ads requires a larger participation from the industry.”

Nuno Sitima

Head of Mobile Browsers, Opera

If they was targeting Opera Mobile with ads to get people to switch to UC Browser   I would consider a article trying get people to switch from EDGE to UC Browser a marketing campaign?

I dont like post that tell me to use this or that  that's up for me too decide , I make my own choices I dont use EDGE  but it dont matter too me if you use EDGE .

I use Brave browser on Android. Because of its features:

* Built-in AdBlock
* Blocks pop-ups
* Battery optimization
* Data optimization
* Tracking Protection
* Https Everywhere (for security)
* Script Blocking
* 3rd party cookie blocking
* Bookmarks
* History
* Private tabs
* Recent tabs

UC is really awesome user friendly browser. Its tab management and download acceleration feels like using IDM on PC.

But what I don't like about UC is that it auto starts in background even if I force stop it. (I don't know what black magic the Alibaba people do), It shows inappropriate news/offers/apps notifications
