scroll down the bottom for the conclusion of what are the best antivirus out

Read post #21.

Quick glance at the test/ conclusion:

Small sample size

No classification of malware used

To much enphasis on "packers" (yes unpacking support is important BUT most vendors without lots of runtime packer support will take signitures from non-uncompressed areas, like McAfee who take signitures from the resource section of the file)

Reccomend F-Secure when its well known NOT to be the solution for 90%+ of computers (unbare able system slowdowns)

Its outdated

Tests where ran on different days

Polly more if i could be bothered looking.

@Unbekannt, those are your opinions, correct?

Unbekannt, those are your opinions, correct? ;)

Lite, all posts are opinions. There´s no absolute truth for nothing, and also there´s no supreme opinion.. ;) People have your own brain to develop own ideas. Opinions are made to be samples on advices. And,unfortunately some people is conceited enough to forget the essence of opinion and respect. But is not my case: Opinions and advices, yes. But respect at all.

Is the Sunbelt Kerio firewall any good?I use Sunbelt's Counter Spy and i like the way it works, maybe the firewall is good also.

I didn't like the way old Kerio firewall worked.

Does anybody use Aluira's Spyware Eliminator 4.0???It is ranked very high.

P.s. come on stop fighting,no program is perfect and worth fighting over it.

What do you think is the best anti-spyware program?

spy sweeper and spyware doctor have my vote

SpySweeper and Spyware Doctor are great indeed. I agree with you. ;)

1 - Sunbelt CounterSpy

2 - Trend Micro AS

3 - Webroot SpySweeper

4 - PcTools Spyware Doctor

5 - CA Pest Patrol

6 - Ashampoo AntiSpyware

7 - Spinach AntiSpyware

8 - Ad-Aware SE Professional

9 - McAfee AntiSpyware

10 - Omniquad AntiSpy

Note: This is just my personal opinion based on my own tests and my experience. Make your own decision. ^_^

My current security pack is:

firewall: Zone Alarm(the one with antivirus,anti-spyware)

antivirus: NOD32

anti-spyware: spy sweeper,spyware doctor,counter spy,trend micro anti-spyware.......

I know that i'm the only one that usues Zone Alarm here ,but i didn't have any problem with it for over a year now.

Are there any conflicts between the antivirus part of ZoneAlarm and NOD32? Cause normally more than one antivirus software causes problems.

it depends on the type of NOD product if its an ESS well it will be a problem as it has its own firewall unlke the AV version only of NOD 32..correct me if am wrong...

Best security?? There is no such thing as the best security...if there is, everyone will be out of business!

Common sense is the best....

AV, Firewall and anti-spyware will do the rest!

There's no best security software, there's only good security practice (IMO):

- Use AV (anti-malware, anti-rootkits, anti-spyware).

- Use Sandboxie or similar product.

- Depends on your lifestyle/Internet usage, use software firewall or router firewall or even plain n simple NAT on the router.

- Avoid crack/porn sites or if you must run your browser through sandbox environment.

- If you a single user on your PC, then you can also make your browser to remember the username/password. So that even if keyloggers were installed (missed by AV) after you've recorded the username/password, your username n password is safe. This is by no mean 100% protection against keyloggers, but this is to minimize the risk.

Totally right there LoKz except for the fact you miss one thing :frusty: Trojan Remover.

I use Trojan Remover and Spybot S&D together and TR is able to pick up some things Spybot is not.

For me, the best security it's to use LINUX better than Windows OS's.

I like openSUSE 11.0 & Ubuntu.

LINUX provides better acount management (root/user) & directory/file permissions, and very few software items can infect a LINUX system.

But still some "command line" (console) dependencies for configuration purpouses. If developers solve this for the future, LINUX becomes the winner (I'm thinking, and this is my desire).

;) thanks also i don't really like firewalls and Antivirus just scanners you know when you need them... its all about knowing what you are DOING ;) ill give TR a try also just like im giving all these security software a try lol

I use Avast! as my AV but NOD32 sounds pretty popular here. Is it really that good or should I just stick with my current AV program?

Oh and I use Spybot S&D.

Try it to know the different, I have been using it for a number of years, no regret yet!

As for anti-spyware, use also Adware, on top of Spybot. My recommendation anyway. Don't stick to just one anti-spyware.

As for anti-virus, just use one.

I wouldn't use Adware on top of Spybot, since Adware might get some unwanted viruses/spyware in... You might as well try Ad-Aware to get rid of this Adware that might try to get those unwanted viruses/spyware in  Hehehe.

Anywayz, I recommend using Spybot S&D in combination with Trojan Remover. These two cover about anything!

Hey Shought, some what agree with you....

I had use the cracked Adaware Plus version and true...other anti-spyware did not detect any problem, but the moment Adaware run, it detected trojan, so does Nod32.

I finally use the free version, and all is well again.

So the cracked version does generate Trojan (maybe not???) when it run.....

My advice is to use the free version, anyway Spybot is also free.

Uhmmmm, my advice is actually not to use Ad-Aware(I was just making a joke about you calling it Adware ). Ad-Aware has the idiot tendency to flag every cookie as a high priority threat and just picks up a lot of things that aren't related to Spyware/Adware... It might do be good at it's job, but these are some things I don't like. So I just use Spybot S&D in combination with Trojan Remover and have managed to solve every problem that came across my path.

Ha haha... pardon my spelling mistake...Thank you for info.

I used to use spybot, but it took a long time to scan (might try it again). Now trying out SuperAnit-spyware......still testing.

Changes in 1.6.0.30:

- Scan speed vastly improved (with default settings: ca. 5x)

....

:D Sure do try it again!
