Administrator Lite Posted February 15, 2006 Administrator Share Posted February 15, 2006 http://av-test.mycity.co.yu/center_en.html#AVPscroll down the bottom for the conclusion of what are the best antivirus outRead post #21.Quick glance at the test/ conclusion:Small sample sizeNo classification of malware usedTo much enphasis on "packers" (yes unpacking support is important BUT most vendors without lots of runtime packer support will take signitures from non-uncompressed areas, like McAfee who take signitures from the resource section of the file)Reccomend F-Secure when its well known NOT to be the solution for 90%+ of computers (unbare able system slowdowns)Its outdatedTests where ran on different daysPolly more if i could be bothered looking.@Unbekannt, those are your opinions, correct?
Unbekannt
Unbekannt, those are your opinions, correct? ;)Lite, all posts are opinions. There´s no absolute truth for nothing, and also there´s no supreme opinion.. ;) People have your own brain to develop own ideas. Opinions are made to be samples on advices. And,unfortunately some people is conceited enough to forget the essence of opinion and respect. But is not my case: Opinions and advices, yes. But respect at all.

talakitok
My current security pack is:firewall: Zone Alarm(the one with antivirus,anti-spyware)antivirus: NOD32anti-spyware: spy sweeper, spyware doctor, counter spy, trend micro anti-spyware.......I know that i'm the only one that usues Zone Alarm here ,but i didn't have any problem with it for over a year now.Are there any conflicts between the antivirus part of ZoneAlarm and NOD32? Cause normally more than one antivirus software causes problems.it depends on the type of NOD product if its an ESS well it will be a problem as it has its own firewall unlke the AV version only of NOD 32..correct me if am wrong...
KotaXor
Best security?? There is no such thing as the best security...if there is, everyone will be out of business! Common sense is the best....AV, Firewall and anti-spyware will do the rest!
bahamot
There's no best security software, there's only good security practice (IMO):- Use AV (anti-malware, anti-rootkits, anti-spyware).- Use Sandboxie or similar product.- Depends on your lifestyle/Internet usage, use software firewall or router firewall or even plain n simple NAT on the router.- Avoid crack/porn sites or if you must run your browser through sandbox environment.- If you a single user on your PC, then you can also make your browser to remember the username/password. So that even if keyloggers were installed (missed by AV) after you've recorded the username/password, your username n password is safe. This is by no mean 100% protection against keyloggers, but this is to minimize the risk.

zen
For me, the best security it's to use LINUX better than Windows OS's.I like openSUSE 11.0 & Ubuntu.LINUX provides better acount management (root/user) & directory/file permissions, and very few software items can infect a LINUX system. But still some "command line" (console) dependencies for configuration purpouses. If developers solve this for the future, LINUX becomes the winner (I'm thinking, and this is my desire).

ryohku
I use Avast! as my AV but NOD32 sounds pretty popular here. Is it really that good or should I just stick with my current AV program?Oh and I use Spybot S&D.

My recommendation anyway. Don't stick to just one anti-spyware.As for anti-virus, just use one.

You might as well try Ad-Aware to get rid of this Adware that might try to get those unwanted viruses/spyware in  Hehehe.Anywayz, I recommend using Spybot S&D in combination with Trojan Remover. Ad-Aware has the idiot tendency to flag every cookie as a high priority threat and just picks up a lot of things that aren't related to Spyware/Adware... It might do be good at it's job, but these are some things I don't like. So I just use Spybot S&D in combination with Trojan Remover and have managed to solve every problem that came across my path.
