Here’s the list of new Edge web platform features in Windows 10 Insider build 14942

The core of Microsoft’s Edge browser is built in to the operating system, so along with new features and known issues, Edge is getting an updated today, too, with build 14942. Here’s the list of new features in Edge this build:

  • Enabled H.264/AVC support by default for RTC scenarios
  • Improved ES6 Modules debugging experience in F12 Developer Tools
  • Various webpage performance improvements
  • Refactoring network logic in terms of Fetch algorithms in preparation for Service Worker Fetch interception (behind a flag)
  • Ongoing work to add support for CSS Custom Properties
  • Ongoing work to add support for CSP 2.0
  • Ongoing work to add support for WebRTC 1.0 (behind a flag)
  • Ongoing work to add support for Service Worker (behind a flag)

Microsoft recently reiterated that it will soon be bringing some updates for Edge, specifically enhancements to the Edge app, to the Windows Store. The core of Edge will still be updated via Windows Updates, but soon you’ll be able to get the latest updates to Cortana, navigation controls, reading view and so on without having to wait for a new build.
