Quick Assist in Windows 10 Anniversary Update

One of the new features that are included in the Windows 10 Anniversary Update is called Quick Assistant and is an evolved version of the Windows Remote Assistant tool previously available in older versions of Windows.

With Quick Assist, Microsoft has built a TeamViewer clone that’s offered to users from the get-go, making it easier to request and receive assistance should anything go wrong. And because it’s all so helpful, Microsoft has decided to post an introductory video of Quick Assist in order to show users what to expect when they install the Anniversary Update on their devices.

Microsoft’s Brian Roper and Katharine Holdsworth discuss this feature in a 6-minute video, showing how easy it is to receive or provide assistance to someone who needs help dealing with a computer issue.

How to use Quick Assist

Quick Assist works in a way similar to TeamViewer, and those who’ve previously used this application will certainly find the new Windows 10 Anniversary Update feature quite intuitive.

When you launch Quick Assist, you are prompted to choose whether you want to provide or to receive assistance. Depending on your option, you are then offered information that will help establish a remote connection - for instance, if you choose to give assistance, Quick Assist generates a security code that you need to provide to the user who’s trying to receive assistance, so this way, you can make sure that nobody else connects to your system.

We’ve already tested this feature on several occasions, and it all seems to work just like expected, so it’s very clear that Microsoft developed quite a neat way to quickly establish a remote connection with another Windows 10 computer without the need for third-party software.

TeamViewer continues to be one of the most popular software solutions that can provide us with similar functionality, but it remains to be seen if it manages to stay relevant as more people move to Windows 10 and discover Quick Assist.

Team Viewer has a reputation of being secure and fixing flaws quickly.  The same can not be said of Microsoft.  Think before you leap.  Newer isn't better.

Very useful... if you're one of the 20% of Windows users wanting to "assist" another one of the 20%. If my maths is right that's a tiny 4% of combinations.

Teamviewer runs on (effectively) everything.

The problem is you cant connect to someones computer that is not using windows ten microsoft needs to make it backwards compatible (allowing windows remote assistance to work with it somehow) or better implement quick assist in windows seven and eight.  They can also make it compatible with teamviewer I doubt there going to do this as teamviewer is there competition.  I have used teamviewer alot in the past five to ten years Ill most likely stick with teamviewer as teamviewer can connect a windows ten computer to windows xp and windows xp computer to windows ten.  Ill give quick assist a try I doubt Ill use it permanently as I love teamviewer to much.

Not only that, people that have a brain wouldn't use Team Viewer to remotely connect to their PC. There are other more secured programs that you can buy, I don't need to mention because I don't feel like posting/schooling.

And with TV, the best part is, you can now choose the "run once" application mode to help someone and then once you are done delete the .exe, session over, remotely fixed, problem solved.

Amazing what can be accomplished with a TINY BIT of brain power, its not asking much. Trusting Microshart with everything, lmao. Thats like me trusting my 2 year old niece around my tower while she holds a cup of milk and chocolate all over her face. Yea ... like that would ever happen. I'd spray that damn kid with a garden hose before she even set foot in my place covered in food and dirt.

Better yet, maybe I should let her drive my car while I get wasted.
