straycat19
Though this specific information is only applicable to Garmin devices there have been reports of other devices that are formatted with FAT32 not being recognized as mass storage devices in Windows 10 1607. Support article — 3183365 — notes that some Garmin wearable devices won't work after the update. (I take personal affront to that because I own no less than five Garmin GPS products.) But what's more interesting is the reason they won't work with Version 1607. "This problem occurs because Garmin devices that are formatted with FAT12, FAT16, or FAT32 file systems are not recognized as mass storage devices by a computer or device that's running Windows 10 Anniversary Update." That's a bit puzzling because Win10 1607's File Explorer still let me format a flash drive with either FAT or FAT32. And Explorer read files copied to the flash drive under FAT32. Perhaps the issue is one of compatible drivers. The current solution for affected Garmin users is to download the latest version of Garmin Express (4.1.25) and let it update the devices' boot software.
