Redmond working at full speed to get RS1 ready

Microsoft has released Windows 10 build 14388 a couple of days ago and now the company is working on getting ready another build that could see daylight as soon as this week.

Dona Sarkar, the head of the Windows Insider program, revealed on Twitter that the Windows team is aiming for another build release in the coming days, but no other details were provided.

We’re hearing that the build with the biggest chances to go live for fast ring users is 14390, but this can always change in a minute if the company finds any major bug that prevents this build from being pushed to users. Most likely, the release could take place today or tomorrow, but given the fact that Dona has proved us all that new builds could land during weekends

 too, anything is possible.

Just like the most recent builds, 14390, or whatever the next one is, will be concentrated only on fixing bugs and improving performance because the focus is no longer on developing new features at this point in the development process. The Windows 10 Anniversary Update is due to go live for everyone on August 2, so Microsoft has only a few more weeks to complete work on this version.

The second Redstone wave

New features will only arrive when builds from the second Redstone wave start rolling out, as Microsoft is planning another important release in the spring of 2017. Builds that are part of this new update should be provided to insiders soon after the Anniversary Update (also known as Redstone 1) goes live early next month.

Rumor has it that features which weren’t ready for the first wave of Redstone would be included in the second and we’re already hearing that the company is preparing something very exciting for PC users, although no other specifics are available at this point.

For the moment, however, the next exciting thing for Windows 10 users is the Anniversary Update and it seems like we’re almost there.
