tomm
Microsoft has just released a new build for users enrolled in the fast ring of the Windows Insider program, and just like before, the company focused specifically on fixing bugs and improving performance of the operating system on both PC and mobile. The change log is huge and you can check it out entirely in the box after the jump, but there’s one notable difference that you should notice from the moment you reach the desktop. The desktop watermark is no longer there and Dona Sarkar, the head of the Windows Insider program, says this is because the Anniversary Update is reaching the final stage of development. And yet, it’s not ready just yet and some more builds would be released soon, but we’re getting there quite fast. “This is because we’re beginning to check in final code in preparation for releasing the Windows 10 Anniversary Update to customers on August 2nd. But we’re not finished yet and will have more builds to release to Windows Insiders between now and then. Remember you guys play a big role in helping us decide which are the final *final* bits that we ship globally,” Dona explained. One notable known issue There are also some known bugs and one that’s really worth mentioning affects PCs. Microsoft says that some users could get a notification pop-up once a day telling that the operating system expires on July 15. Dona explains that this “is a superfluous dialog” and your operating system won’t expire, so you can simply ignore it – that shouldn’t be too difficult given the fact that it shows up just once a day. The next builds that Microsoft will release should fix this annoying dialog, but for the moment you have to live with it. The Anniversary Update is projected to launch for retail users on August 2, but insiders will obviously get it before that, probably sometime in the next few weeks. Certainly, the Anniversary Update is taking shape nicely and the next few builds should bring the finishing touches in terms of performance and bug fixes. mirassol
"...If you are seeing a notification pop-up once a day that started on 7/1 saying that your Windows evaluation copy expires on 7/15/2016, don’t worry – this is a superfluous dialog and your OS won’t expire. The dialog will also go away soon...." Such a tech giant - i mean MS is. Who calls MS tech giant rather than software giant in the first place anyway ?
