Microsoft Nixes Windows 10 Build 14327 at the Last Minute, Prepares New Release

The company finds bug just before the insider release

Microsoft promised to release a new Windows 10 build sometime this week, after pushing it back due to a major bug last week, but just when the Windows 10 was prepared to roll out another version, it discovered one more critical issue that made it delay the launch for a few more days.

Gabe Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, revealed on Twitter that the company wanted to release Windows 10 build 14327 but decided to cancel it on Monday due to what he said was a PCI Express bug in this version. The company was still aiming to roll out a new build later this week, and since it’s only Tuesday, there are high chances to get one in just a few days.

Obviously, depending on how internal testing of the next build advances, the Windows team could decide on whether it should release the build or not, so just don’t get your hopes too high because the next version could easily be pushed back should any other bug be found.

Preview build of Anniversary Update

All these preview builds are part of the Redstone branch, or as Microsoft calls it, the Anniversary Update, which will debut in the summer and bring a huge number of improvements to both desktop and smartphone users.

The new Edge browser is one of the apps to get significant updates, as the application will get support for extensions, a feature that’s already available in rival browsers, such as Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Obviously, there’s more to come in this major update, and that’s why Microsoft is hard at work to roll out as many preview builds as possible, as it wants to let insiders try them out and send feedback for further improvements.

The Anniversary Update should launch in July, according to people with knowledge of the matter, so Microsoft still has enough time to pave the way for the launch.
