Batu69
The End of an Era? Microsoft’s Internet Explorer has dominated desktop browser market share for many years, mainly because it’s simply just there. Let’s face it, any browser which is built-in to the operating system has a decided head start on 3rd party browsers. However, that situation appears to be rapidly coming to an end as Google’s Chrome browser steadily makes ground on Internet Explorer. Let’s look at the desktop browser market share trend over the preceding 10 months (as per NetMarketShare): The market share percentage for Internet Explorer also includes the new Edge browser. The differential between April 2015 to February 2016 in near enough to: Chrome +11%, Internet Explorer -11%. Which works out at an average swing of a little over 1% per month. If we then extrapolate that rate per month we can quite confidently predict that Chrome will overtake Internet Explorer as #1 desktop browser by around October this year. However, historically, these types of trends tend to accelerate as the disparity narrows so I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the big event didn’t happen even earlier – perhaps as early as June or July. When you think about it, Google seems to outdo Microsoft in most mutual endeavors. One can only surmise that the brains trust at Google is either a lot smarter than Microsoft’s equivalent, or more in tune with the users, or perhaps both. I wonder if Google has ever considered producing a full-blown desktop operating system? I seriously doubt Google would want to do battle in a field where Microsoft has traditionally dominated but, you never know. As a side note: Even though Firefox hasn’t really lost any significant ground over the past 11 months, it’s disappointing to see the once popular browser as a comparative non-entity in the battle for supremacy. GRiM
No idea why Chrome seems to be flavor of choice now over Firefox. I've tried Chrome a few times but just kept running into walls of lack of functionality/design. Firefox has much better features and addons. I've been using FF since around 2004 and can't see me using anything else for forseeable future.
mikie
Seems lots of windows 10 users don't even know Internet Explorer exists - they think MS Edge replaced it & go looking for an alternate browser so they use an adblocker plugin. Pretty simple, Microsoft is cutting their own throats with that edge browser so far & hiding IE where most people never ever have looked.

Vjcobra
I utilize Firefox, Google Chrome and Internet Explorer accordingly, because each browser has its own unique capability and flexibility. But I do favor Firefox browser to be honest.
luisam
Firefox looks to me a better browser, about as fast as Chrome but Google Chrome wins when you need to view the videos. It's inbuilt decoders let view all those Flash videos you can't watch on Firefox or need Adobe Flash Player. So I keep using Firefox but unabled Adobe Flash Player. Can watch most of flash with HTML5; for the rest, I load Chrome
Rivenson
Quote .....Chrome wins when you need to view the videos. It's inbuilt decoders ............. Yeah , long time Firefox user , switched to Palemoon which is my main browser, but i'm keeping around Chrome (only portable cause i do not like the way chrome ties to a pc with services and background tasks, not to mention that does a lot of spying on its users through it), for the rare case a site "needs" it to function properly. Generally Chrome feels speedier here and there, but it lacks interface customisability, page rendering & imaging quality, and consumes more Ram. Chrome's market share climbs in this manner solely by the aggressive promo through Google's page and programs that bundle it ..

Using Firefox 38 ESR ATM but with every update of the main release it seems to become more like Chrome every since v43 there's been serious Add-on breakage Once WebExtensions hit Firefox its going use Chrome Addons most of the good add-ons that use XPCOM/XUL APIs will stop working forever so if you still use it after this happens you are just using it for a name. The only browser that still uses XPCOM/XUL APIs left will be Palemoon. https://wiki.mozilla.org/WebExtensions The reason many use Chrome instead of Firefox is because a lot of it is based on the past before Chrome become bloated and some simply switch too it because Firefox is becoming like it And Edge and IE dont have any addons yet , Now there putting Adware in IE 11 though windows updates I uninstalled it on Windows 8.1. The only Chrome based browser that has enough privacy features for me is Slimjet And most of my Firefox privacy features depends upon XPCOM/XUL APIs add-ons and once they break them I will be forced to 100% migrate to palemoon for a Firefox based one . I don't use Browsers based on what its name is or what it could do in the past I use it on what it will do for me today.
