straycat19
I have Shark007 installed but haven't updated it in a long time and don't know if I really need it. It is only on this one old computer. I have no codec packs installed on any of the others. jabrwky
SolidSmoke
MPC-HC only. It comes with LAV filters stable updated so no need to install separate codecs. And some games and programs use standard Windows codecs forcibly so I can not remove them with NTLite or WinReducer anyway so I'd rather not change the default system codecs to avoid problems. debebee
for playback.. you can do away with codec packs.. if encoding video, it depends on what software you are using.
v3n0m
I actually thought I was using a pack but then when I check I have not installed one on any of my machines since I did my last windows installations. So no and voted accordingly 🆗

mare1
I don't need this, I use a good mediaplayer (lightalloy)
PLASMA
There's no need for codec packs for player mode, I just use PotPlayer, for me it's like an "aio" player, it supports almost everything....
PetaOctet
Not anymore. I just update LAV Filters for MPC-HC.

PetaOctet
I use LAVfilters as external filters in MPC-HC. So, I use a codec pack, you're right. 😉

mp68terr
No codec pack. Removed all from win; mpc (hc, be) and other standalone players come with more than enough.
UberGeek
Nope, @rach The codecs that shipped with my video player never displayed any shortcomings for me, to feel the need for a codec pack. rach
XRE
I use "K Lite Mega Codecs", It has built-in Media Player Classic,
Dame_Edna
I work a lot with audio and video files. So it is inevitable to install additional codecs. I also use "dBpoweramp". This program also installs a bunch of own codecs. ducky88
