Batu69
This CU is not available via Windows Update though Microsoft has just released a new cumulative update for Windows 10, but for the moment, it doesn’t seem to be available through the usual Windows Update distribution system. At this point, the only way to get cumulative update KB3140742 is to manually download it, so you can click the links at the bottom of the article to do so. Make sure you get the right version for your computer and please note that KB3140742 is only available for Windows 10 1511 (November Update), so users still on the RTM build (10240) won’t be able to install it. Microsoft is yet to publish a KB article for this update, so it’s not yet clear what it includes, but most likely, it’s all about bug fixes and performance improvements. The recently released Windows 10 update history page doesn’t provide any information on update KB3140742 at the time of writing this article. It replaces previous cumulative updates Since it’s a cumulative update, it includes all the fixes that Microsoft rolled out in the past, so if you install this one, your computer should be brought fully up-to-date. As Microsoft puts it, “Windows 10 updates are cumulative of all previous updates. Installing the latest one makes your device current.” The previous cumulative update for Windows 10 caused quite a lot of issues on Windows 10 version 1511, with several users complaining that the patch failed to install, while others revealed that it reset their default apps. According to Microsoft, KB3135173, which was released on February 9 and bumped version number to 10586.104, brought improvements and security fixes, but for some reason, it failed to work properly on a number of PCs. So today’s updates could come to address these problems, but it’s not yet clear why it’s not shipped via Windows Update, but only through the manual download links. Batu69
Windows 10 Cumulative Update KB3140742 Increases Version to 10586.112 Quote In other words, if you do want to get it running on your Windows 10 device, the only way to do this is to manually download KB3140742 using the official links and install it all by yourself. While right now it’s not yet very clear why Microsoft hasn’t released the update via Windows Update, it seems that it actually brings significant changes on PCs deploying it. The Windows 10 version is bumped to 10586.112 - but remember that this update is only available for Windows 10 1511 (November Update) and now for those still running the RTM build (10240). Some users might be afraid to install this cumulative update since it’s not available via Windows Update, so to make sure that everything works as it should, you can always create a backup and to be able to restore just in case something unexpected happens.
